The Karnak Sound and Light Show highlights the dramatic history of ancient Thebes. The show narrates the achievements of some great Pharaohs, with poetic descriptions of the ancient treasures. As visitors walk through the complex, the pharaohs arise to tell the story of their interesting lives, as haunting music mysteriously flows through this ancient city. Ancient and poetic voices tell the visitors about the birth of Karnak temple and the heroic achievements of the pharaohs and the god Amun. It is an enchanting and supernatural experience to listen to sound effects and gaze at the magnificent ruins illuminated during the well-presented show.

Having visited in the day light, we where disappointed as the majesty was lost of the relics and building as access was thus restricted being at night and herded through in droves

The Sound and Light Show is....well, cheesy. There are various start times based on your language. The total time is about 45 minutes as you walk with a group through the temple, to the lake, and then back to the front. The information is good...More

Was looking forward to this show, but could not understand most of what was said. The light show was not impressive at all. Underwhelming to say the least If you do go, be sure to bring a flashlight!!

The show runs for about 45 minutes and is really worthwhile. The pyramids, sphinx and other ancient ruins in the area are all lit up and used for the show with a very good commentary (in English).

The show is nice. Gives a brief History of the past and has colourful lights that give the volume a different look at night. It’s not a must do but one can see it as the night lit look is different from the day.

This was interesting to go to and presented a lot of history in a unique way. We saw the temple during the day and went back for the light show. Was glad we went but it is not really spectacular.

Darkness puts a totally different perspective on this impressive monument, the lighting and oration give the place a sense of life. It was still very hot at 8pm so take water as show lasts an hour and there is a fair amount of walking.
