The Karnak Sound and Light Show highlights the dramatic history of ancient Thebes. The show narrates the achievements of some great Pharaohs, with poetic descriptions of the ancient treasures. As visitors walk through the complex, the pharaohs arise to tell the story of their interesting lives, as haunting music mysteriously flows through this ancient city. Ancient and poetic voices tell the visitors about the birth of Karnak temple and the heroic achievements of the pharaohs and the god Amun. It is an enchanting and supernatural experience to listen to sound effects and gaze at the magnificent ruins illuminated during the well-presented show.

Some one will say it is the best in Egypt but to us it was disapointing, the light system is not good enough to create a good atmosphere and enjoy the temple by night. If you do not choose the time of a language you understand you can have headphones but the original sound is so loud that you won't... More

If the Temple is magnificent in the daytime, it gets better at night. The sound and light show gives you a narrative that takes you back in time and shows you the temple in a new light literally; all its splendour and art comes to the fore in a way like the sun could never do.

We spent a good couple of hours at the Temple of Karnak during the day as there is so much to see and take in, and returned at night for the lights. It is a long walk on uneven ground , with almost no assistive lighting and I wish we had a torch with us. I would not recommend it... More

The good about this visit: Getting to see Karnak at night with the lighted temples and columns. The actual story is a little chaotic (a bit like Karnak itself) so the narrative doesn't flow well. Starts with promise. The bad: Terrible sound track - clashing symbols and overly dramatized acting actually takes away from the experience. Ends with a whimper... More

I've seen similar light Shows in Giza and Jerusalem and this one is somewhat contrived. The span of years covered in the retelling of the story is not sufficient to warrant the show. That said, you are taken around the temple while it is lit up and this is the marvelous part of the show. Some of the individual structures... More

We attended the light show the evening before visiting Karnak Temple. It gave us a great introduction and overview of the history. Was worth attending.

We were given free tickets to the show and when we got there were told if there weren't 10 people they wouldn't do it. Fortunately 15 people showed up and it was a little like being in a remake of the 10 Commandments movie. There is male voice over that is pretty dated. You follow the voice through the dark... More

Shouldn't laugh but in the wonderfully atmosphere of the temple at night the very dated soundtrack featured such plummy English actors that it was hard to take seriously. The clashing drums and symbols only made it more amusing and much less dramatic that it should be. The lights are good, the story is accurate but the delivery is much in... More

The show is very professionally conducted. The lights highlight a portion of the temple turn by turn and then tell the story about why was it made and by whom etc. Highly recommended to be done when visting luxor. The only thing is that there should be a combo ticket for the karnark light and aound show and the temple... More

They could make it a lot more interesting and exciting, found myself bored. The day visit is much better!
