Very attractive market, full of all souvenirs you would dream of. Besides Egyptian original nuts & spices. Accessible by all means of transportation.

Go to the Souk. Yes there is some hassle, but be friendly and joke with them and they are warm and friendly. Ask for Ala who sells galabias and herbs and spices. He's a lovely young man who is kind, warm and courteous. We became friends and we spent a lot of time sitting in the souk, getting to know... More

Just before you hit the Luxor Square on the left you will find the entrance to the Souk or bazaar. Be prepared to be hassled and jostled by the vendors each trying to sell you his wares. All Luxor souveniers are available in this market. the market is open every day from morning till 12 at night. Practice your bargaining... More

Travelled through on a horse and carriage as part of a tour of Luxor. Amazing market down both sides of a narrow alley. We stopped at a spice stall half way down and took hibiscus tea with the proprietor while everyone squeezed past. Fascinating place to visit and the spices were amazing.

My wife and I went there on a Tuesday night. Beside us, we did not see any tourist at all in the market street. So everyone was trying to sell us something as we walked down the street. I understand that the locals were desperate for business but it got scary when we had someone chasing us down from a... More

I really don't understand why more people don't visit the souk. When I was there on three different days I saw one western couple and and a tour group in varies Calesh never venturing out. OK so you get a little hassle but never unpleasant or persistent. I think a lot depends on your attitude to be honest, if you're... More

Having been on a guided cruise on the Nile for 7 days our holidays ended with a two day hotel stay on our own in Luxor. On foot down the Cornichen from Pavillion Winter Palace Hotel to Chicago House and back with a visit to the Luxor Museum we were approached with polite offers for Felucca and carriage rides with... After my experience in Khan el Khalil in Cairo 16 months ago I was expecting to be hassled just as much but I was very surprised. You got invited into their shop but they certainly didn't hassle you. I am not sure if it was because I had my guide Khaled with me. When I was looking for silver earrings... More

Having been hassled on the street to buy or take a Caleche ride, I was expecting more of the same in the Souk. I was pleasantly surprised as although the stall holders were calling ut to you to have a look, they politely accepted if we said La Shokran and moved on. We did not experience any hassle and had... This was really enjoyable. We had hassle all week walking through the street of Luxor. Although we really wanted to experience the Souk we expected it to be the same. The stall holder are calling out to you for your business but I ve got to say its very good natured and we had quite a laugh with them. Our... More
