Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Many remaining remnants and reflected a grand period. Can be seen from a distance but up close and personal is better. The carvings, paintings and layout as well as the pieces piled up by era took time to view. This took us an entire afternoon to absorb.

In ancient times, the Avenue of the Sphinxes ran from Karnak temple to Luxor temple. The Avenue is currently be excavated and restored, with most of the work being done near Karnak. At some point, you will be able to walk from on temple to the other, but for now the sphinxes are best viewed from the temple of Luxor. Go at sunset and view them in the changing light and then stay till after dark. The sphinxes and Luxor temple really come alive after dark with expert lighting. The light and subtle shadows make the temple come alive! If you have limited time, then visit Luxor temple and Avenue of Sphinxes after dark!

I want to spend a winter in this city
Learn some Arabic - drink hibiscus tea and return over and over to every site.
Entering into the temple of Karnak
You imagine that these few Sphnix left used to connect the 2 temples .
I have been to Egypt many times and 4-5 times to Luxor since 1978
If i am fortunate to live long enough I will return

Avenue of Sphinxes is between Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple but you can’t walk on the avenue yet as they are renovating the area. Hopefully by next year it will be open to the public. Enjoying the entire area in general. Too much to see, too little time.

You can't walk it yet -- you can only see it from above from the streets that line the avenue or from the Temples. They're attempting to restore it all, and it will be great in about 20 years when they're done. Now, don't go out of your way to see it.

We were able to see the section near Luxor Temple and glimpses along the 3 km to Karnak Temple. Major reconstruction project has involved moving buildings, etc. to recreate the route.

It’s pretty cool to see over a mile and half of sphinx’s lining both sides of the avenue. The avenue was designed to connect the Luxor temple to the Karnak temple. And they would use the parade route to show off certain idols in front of the ppl who lived there at the time.

After seeing the inauguration on television of the Avenue of Sphinxes, I had great expectations that most all of the statues on the platforms would be at least partially intact. Sadly, this is not the case, but maybe I should be looking at the bigger picture and be thankful that the full length of the avenue has been excavated and is intact with its platforms. Many of the statues are still there but not many.

The Avenue of Sphinxes stretches from the Luxor Temple to the Temple of Karnak. The sheer magnitude of carving all these identical sphinxes and lining them along the rite between the two temples is very impressive. The length is 3 kilometers. You are able to walk the entire avenue, but we didn’t feel energetic enough to undertake it.
