The Mara is a beautiful but sensitive environment that can survive only if properly respected. Well-watered by the Mara River, enjoying abundant vegetation, wildlife and rainfall, its ecology would appear, at first sight, to be relatively resilient. It also appears to have withstood the erosive effects of huge numbers of visiting tourists extraordinarily well. There are signs, however, that the delicate balance between tourist numbers and wildlife populations cannot be properly maintained for much longer as evidenced by the reduction in the protective vegetation cover and the emergence of a series of dust bowls. Meanwhile, the Reserve is host to 95 species of mammals, amphibians and other reptiles and 485 species of birds. During the dry season (July to October) it also hosts a major concentration of migratory herbivores including about 250,000 zebra and 1.3 million wildebeest. Amongst the list of easy-to-view species are: gazelle, elephant, topi, buffalo, lion (Kenya's largest population), black rhino, hippo, hyena, giraffe, leopard and mongoose.

We spent a few nights in the Mara Triangle as a part of a Masai Mara / Serengeti / Ngorongoro trip. Just stunning. I couldn't say enough good things about the sights here. From lions to elephants and leopards to wildebeest, the area is awash with animal in their own habitat. Couldn't recommend this part of the world any more... More

This has to be done...amazing wildlife! In particular the amount of elephant families allowed me think that there is hope for these majestic creatures.

Many giraffes, many zebras, many wildebeests, many vultures and big lions just resting. This one is an easy park to drive through?

Me and my friend have visited the Masai Mara triangle for two days and stayed in one of the private campsites. First of all, the safari experience and the wildlife spotting was definitely wonderful and a great experience. Nevertheless, I'm extremely disappointed by the terrible service, especially considering the huge amount of money people have to pay to visit. We... More

A must do atleast once in a life time. the roads in the Mara triangle are good therefore accessing the animals is a lot more easier, the drivers and guides are well connected by radio and youCANNOT miss seeing Lions. Ofcourse the migration would be the best time, however Mara is a good to go anytime

The Mara Triangle, in the center of the Masa Mara Reserve is absolutely fantastic. One can see any and all of the animals, lions, giraffes, hippos, rhinos, elephants, thousands of wildebeest and zebras, gazelle, etc. Seeing the wildebeest migrating over the Mara River is a sight to behold.

The Mara Triangle is superb, and so much better for being less crowded and touristy than other parts of the Mara. We had a great time here and there was abundant wildlife. We even got to see a couple of the infamous crossings.
