We booked our tour of THE Wall in June 2015. We were after something different, we were worried about crowds and tourists. After some exchanging of emails with James Zhang of Hiking The Wall, we settled on three days in the Jiankou section. James said their wouldn't be many tourists. He was spot on, we saw five people in the... More

Booked the group tour with Chinahighlights including the Ming Tombs, and the Mutianyu Great Wall. (Obviously with the jade factory and the silk factory "included as obligatory optionals"). The Great Wall is really great but if you want to go for a long hike you'd probably be better off going there by yourself - with the 1.5 hrs "free time"... More

Tests your strength and endurance. Went around 2003, was a younger, stronger boy then. But I would say it was worth the journey to hike this wall. The history behind it's building was also very fascinating.

I booked a hiking tour instead of the usual bus tour and it was much more pleasant than the standard visit. This allows you to hike for about two hours on the Great Wall and see a variety of views. It is also further from the cities so less smog and pollution. the main draw, however, is the great peace... More

Its one of the seven wonders of the world. Its a must see wonder. The trekking on wall makes the wonder as a wonder coz of its massiveness and built length. We will feel ta bit of the work done by the workers who built it.

This is a magnificent structure and one not to miss. Sadly, the smog can hinder the views, but even just to touch this man made wonder is amazing. I visited it twice and each time the experience was different. The first time we took the tram amid heavy smog. it was crowded. The second time I walked to several of... More

Went on a one day tour which included a trip to the Great Wall at Badaling. The sheer scale hits only when you actually stand on the wall and look at the Wall meandering on the top of the mountains till the eye can see. If it is a clear day, the view willl take your breath away! If you... More

You can see pictures, but until you walk the Wall, you don't appreciate the magnificence of it. Amazing views, don't miss it.

I went to Jinshanling wall and it was great. No crowed tourists, actually really few tourists you could met there. The view from the wall is really great. You can take small hike (10 Km.) which take only 2-3 hours.
