We get there by daylight and were not recommended to go inside, since there is nothing to see there other than an Olympic pool. The real show comes at night fall, when the outside building changes its colors and make an spectacular view for photos.
A fine building which looks its best at night. Birds nest stadium is close by. We stopped off on the way back from the Great Wall. Don't think it warrants a separate trip unless you're particularly interested in Olympic history.
A treat for the eyes.
Beijing 2008 was a long time ago. This wonderful arena has gone to waste as it is ignored mostly and stands only as a tourist attraction. What a waste. Magnificent structure that can be made great again.
The Water Cube and Bird's Nest share a large common park with snack and souvenir shops. We went there early afternoon and the Water Cube did not stand out. Passing by the same area at night, we saw how beautiful the light effects are.
Since the Olympics the Water Cube has remained an Olympic size swimming pool for swimmers and swimming events. The unique place is without doubt mesmerizing from outside, light reflecting on the sides.
