Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A must-see attraction, but if you want to walk it you need a measure of fitness and determination, at least we did from our entry point. The steps were steep and uneven from a time when it was more important to slow down invaders than to attract tourists. At first we were left behind as younger members of the party dashed ahead, but we kept going slowly and eventually ascended further than any of them to enjoy superb views across the spectacular scenery.

Great Wall of China is quite long and has many sections. Expdetition Exclusive tour took us to the Juyongguan Section which about 40mins drive from Beijing CBD. Its clean and not too crown on Sunday morning. This section is suitable for junior to senior with different mobility. The higher up the wall the more challenging (unevent steps). Toilet, cafe and gift shops are available (tourist price tag, poor quality, tasteless). Bring along a few water bottles + hat and toilet paper). A medal for whom have reached the top 🎖.

This was an awesome MUST SEE experience! We took this option on our recent tour of Beijing. This was one of the top highlights of the trip, the only drawback was that our tour only allowed us an hour here, would have loved to have some more time! Just a quick note, that the stairs can be overwhelming to climb if you really want to go to some of the upper towers.

Of course you must see this bucket list world wonder. There is nothing like it anywhere. Pro-Tips. To scale the wall you will need to climb steep steps. Lots and lots of Steep steps. Pace yourself. Dress comfortably and wear walking Shoes. It will be crowded. It will be hot and dangerously smoggy in the summer. If you visit in the rain take extra care. This was a military facility. It is not built for tourists. If you are unsteady on your feet or worried about heights the wall Will be a problem. All of these warnings aside, I scaled the wall today with two eighty-year-olds. It can be done. Don’t miss it. There are some toilets but they are gross. There is limited food and plenty of souvenirs.

The Juyongguan section of the Great Wall is about an hour's drive from central Beijing. The earlier you arrive and the higher you climb, the less crowded it will be. Between Fortress 10 and 12 there were much fewer people. The climb is very steep in places and the steps are uneven with plenty of trip hazards! In November, we were expecting it to be cold, but jackets, scarves, beanies and jerseys were all discarded as we climbed. Some of our group were so saturated with sweat that they wished they had brought a change of T-shirt!! One can only marvel at this incredible feat of engineering built so many years ago. An amazing experience.

My daughter and I just returned from a great tour experience in China. One of the many highlights was our visit to one of the many sections of the Great Wall - Juyongguan Pass. This section had some steep climbs through varying step heights and provided some great views of the zig zags of the wall through the mountains. The weather was great, no rain, sun came up and temperature was in the mid 60s. Great time of year for this. This is an amazing feat of engineering and manpower.
We took this tour with Intertrips when we purchased the Splendid China 10 Day guided tour through Groupon for less than $00 pp with flights included.

A much less visited section which, although busy at the very start, the crowds soon thinned out due to the steep climb up the steps. Great views as ascends from a valley so good panoramic views of 2 parts of the wall (other side also accessible). Need to be prepared to climb to get the best views and space; the variable height of steps makes it hard work and one person fell whilst we were there.
