Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Yinding Bridge area is the closest thing to an “Old Town” Beijing that isn’t part of an official national site (i.e. fenced off and requiring an entrance fee, etc.). Nice riverfront walk with weeping willow trees and plenty of mom & pop shops selling treats and boba teas. Fairly scenic and good place to get an “off the beaten path” picture. No Starbucks or commercial franchises here. ALSO, this is the “singing place” where there are a couple dozen little bars with open mics and cozy ambiances. Bring your friends, have a few drinks, and showcase your singing skills (also a good winter activity!). Better to go with a group of friends than a first date. 🇺🇸

Came across this area while on a tour but returned again to explore more. By day it's great to walk around, people watch, poke into hidden shops and relax by the waterways. At night it really comes to life with the restaurants and bars coming into their own. The transition from day to night vibe is interesting in itself. Lots of living history to be experienced here.

A small bridge to connect both side in Shichaihai lake. Sometimes lonely during daytime but a high transit road for people, motorcycles, bicycles and, even cars! During high season, all lakes became quite crowded (due all bar and restaurant offer) and this bridge works as a funnel, so expect to wait some times even more than 5 minutes to cross it. Closest subway station is Shichaihai at Line 8.

This bridge is right in the middle of the best souvenir shopping area of Beijing - so much to look at and buy. Also snacks and cafes. The oldest post office in Beijing is right in the middle and you can send home a post office with the 'chop' or stamp from this post office as a souvenir. Snacks and restaurants, also walk to the hutong and Bell and Drum towers from here.

The Silver Ingot Bridge connects two human made lakes. It is a busy bridge with all the tricycle tours using it when you go on a tour. I was there in the early afternoon and it was busy. Lots of bars and places to eat near the bridge.

If you continue straight along there are lots of little shops and in a few minutes you come to the main road. Turn left and you will see the Drum tower.

If you found the review useful I always appreciate a helpful vote.

When visiting the belltower/drumtower, I can highly recommend to take a walk from the belltower to the south and the first street to the right. A lively street with a lot of teashops etc. that will lead you to the north side of the Yinding bridge.
Have a great time at the end of the day and spend the night at the lively and colourfull side of the lake, with lots of food, restaurants, shops and bars with life music.

A really short (25 metres) stone bridge, it still has huge importance as the only crossing mid lake. Hence, it is packed with pedestrians and the odd bike... no cars. Otherwise, the view around is quite pleasant.

Jinding Bridge 金锭桥 and Yinding Bridge 银锭桥 are twin bridges within Shichahai 什刹海 area, overlooking the Houhai Lake 后海. Of the 2 bridges, Jinding Bridge is more crowded as the shops are congregated along the nearby Yandai Xie Street 烟袋斜街.

Its a bridge, and popular for pictures and selfies, but the real treat are the walks around the two main lakes

The Yinding Bridge area is a great spot. It is the link between the bar street son either side of Houhai Lake where it narrows. To be honest the bridge itself, though pretty, is no great shakes, its more the area around it that I am giving 4 stars! There are loads of great bars, pubs and cafes and most have live music. They offer great waterside views and even though it is a very expensive part of the city by Beijing standards, it has a lovely vibe around it. On our visit, a Sunday, there were thousands of locals to suppliment the tourists, lots of children and families too as the water and pedalboats were a big draw! The bridge is at the hear tof it all and the area is really well worth a visit.
