We really enjoyed our tour with Laura - for her knowledge, sense of humor as well as her ability to understand us as well as making us feel like we were travelling with friends. Amazing food as well. It was also very convenient booking the tour, getting pick up from the airport and fitting in a Great Wall tour to a not extremely crowded part of the wall even though we had only half a day to spend. I would not go back to Beijing without booking a tour with Stretch a Leg!

Laura was our tour guide for the wild great wall and a Beijing tour. Laura was prompt, charming, extremely knowledgeable, speaks excellent English, and we had a great time with her. Laura was also able to provide us with lots of additional info during the trip and I was able to text her with questions. The tours are expensive, but we enjoyed them a lot. I found communicating with Stretch-A-Leg to be challenging - the company was not always responsive and the communication was not always clear.

Jonathan was assigned to us. He was great. Very personable and got us around to all the sites we were interested in seeing. We went to 798 which consists of many galleries. It reminded me of Soho in New York. Very chic and alot to see. We also wanted to see the Hutongs and Tianneman Square which we did in the morning. It was a great day and I would highly recommend Stretch A Leg. We couldnt ask for anything more.

I spent three days with Jonathan, who was an excellent companion. His English was quite good, so he could convey the history of the places we visited, as well as share some jokes and points-of-view. The first day we toured the Forbidden City and The Temple of Heaven. The second day we visited Hutongs, the Bell and Drum Towers, and the Summer Palace. On both of those days we used a combination of taxis and metro for travel. The third day a car and driver took us out of the city to a deserted and overgrown part of the Great Wall for a "wild hike", which was a good work out, and great way to learn about the history of the wall.
Stretch-A-Leg is a well organized group, responding quickly to emails and questions. I would certainly recommend them to anyone looking for an introduction to Beijing and all it has to offer.

I spent a whole day with Laura visiting the Forbidden City, Tienanmen and the Lama Temple. She is dedicated, good fun, very well prepared, great storyteller, quick and flexible. Our lunch was delicious and she was very informative. I wish I could have spent more time with her

We had a delightful day with Laura on our first day in Beijing. She met us at the train station and we spent the morning visiting the Summer Palace. Laura was extremely knowledgeable about the Palace as well as other facts and information about Beijing. We had lunch in a lively dim sum restaurant and then walked through the hutongs .Laura then wrote a list of interesting places we could see on our own the following day including directions on how to get to them using buses and cabs.We highly recommend Laura as a tour guide. She was attentive to our interests as well as sharing her enthusiasm for her city and country.

Where to start: I cannot say enough positive things about Stretch-A-Leg, our guide Laura, and the Wall experience at Jinshanling in general. It was a once-in-a-lifetime-type endeavour and one for which we are truly grateful to Stretch-A-Leg/Laura for making a possibility.

My girlfriend and I were looking for a Great Wall experience that was "genuine", in that we wanted to visit a section of the Wall that hadn't been extensively rebuilt, wasn't overridden by tourists, but was still doable as a day trip from Beijing. The planning process was where Stretch-A-Leg started to differentiate itself in a meaningful and important way.

We had heard from friends who'd been to the Wall a few years ago that the Simatai section would provide us with exactly the experience we were seeking, which we communicated to Stretch-A-Leg via email in the planning/booking process. The folks at Stretch-A-Leg strongly advised us to consider the Jinshanling portion of the Wall instead, counselling that there had been considerable reconstruction/rebuilding efforts at Simatai in the past few years since our friends had been there.

They said they'd be happy to take us to either section, but that based on what we said we were looking for, they were quite confident we'd enjoy Jinshanling. We went back and forth over email with them a bunch over the course of a week, and finally settled on Jinshanling. They were polite, helpful, knowledgable, and informative throughout the entire exchange, and were extremely accommodating; we confirmed that we'd like them to take us to Jinshanling only a couple days before the tour.

Boy, were they right, and we sure are glad we listened to them.

The Wall was truly majestic, and the experience was profound. For large stretches, we were the only souls in sight on the Wall, and it stretches as far as the eye can see in both directions. Though some sections have been partially restored, the work is minimal and has mainly been done in places that would render traversing it unsafe; most of the 3-hour stretch we hiked was original. We owe the wonderful experience to both Stretch-A-Leg, and to Laura, our wonderful guide.

And, to Laura: We specifically requested that Laura be our guide for the day based on other overwhelmingly positive TripAdvisor reviews and specific mentions of her. Laura's a Chinese national who speaks perfect English (better than mine) with a truly encyclopedic knowledge of both Chinese and world history. We learned more about China, both past and present, in a day than I think we had in our entire lives previously. She's warm, accommodating, and consummately professional: pretty much the best tour guide one could ask for.

Strech-A-Leg is really just a first-rate shop, through and through, from the big, important stuff (outlined above), to the little things that make a difference. The driver who took us out to the Wall (it's about a 2.5-hour drive from Beijing) was pleasant, professional, and safe. He prepared some trail mix and bottled water for us to take on the hike; when we returned, after a half-day in gruelling, 34C Chinese summer heat, he'd already cooled down the van, put more bottled water on ice, and even pitched back the seats into full recline so we could nap on the ride back to Beijing.

All in all, we couldn't say enough good things about Stretch-A-Leg, Laura, and the Jinshanling section of the Wall—truly an amazing adventure.

Stretch-A-Leg Travel is by far the best way to get-to-know Beijing - its people and sights. A day with guide Laura Zhao visiting Tian'an Men Square, Forbidden City, and the Dazhalan & Liulichang hutongs was one of the highlights of my three weeks in China. She was outstanding in every way and I felt like a local. Stretch-A-Leg provides a personal, "behind-the-scenes", educational, and "real life" view of Beijing. The itinerary also is flexible, avoids most congestion, and permits more places to be visited.

We arranged two days in Beijing with Stretch a leg. We had Jonathon as our guide. The first day we did the Forbidden City and the Hutongs. The second day we went on the Great Wall hike. Jonathon was great. He knows a lot. I can't think of any question we asked that he didn't know the answer to. We had our 9 year-old daughter with us. She faded a bit in the first day, especially when we were touring the Hutong. Jonathon was good at engaging her in the conversation, but it was hot and we had been on our feet all day. I was worried how she would do on the hike. She *loved* the Great Wall hike. When she woke up the next day she said she wanted to do it again. It was amazing up there. We didn't see anyone else the whole time. It was tiring (and hard on the knees coming down), but a wonderful experience.

Jonathon's English is really good. I never felt as if I had to structure my questions in a certain way for him to understand what I was asking. He was enjoyable to talk to about all sorts of things.

Even though it was quite expensive, I would certainly book with them again if we returned. We realized how much we missed Jonathon when we tried to navigate around the Summer Palace on our own. We could do it, but I am sure we missed out on a lot.
