The staff was very friendly and professional and took good really care of us. Luckily we did get a private class so our teacher Yao had more time to focus... More

Last week 3 friends and I attended a (rebooked) morning Dumpling making course at the Hutong. It was my first time and I enjoyed it so much I will definitely repeat, and book other courses! I feel they have the right balance between professionalism and fun, and the chef, thanks to her perfect english, was able to give us so... More

I have lived in Beijing for 3 yrs and have taken many classes at The Hutong. They are always exceptional and I have a great time. I arranged a private class with 8 friends to learn how to make some of the amazing street food dishes I love and that I won't be able to get back in my home... More

Great bike trip around the xishuangbana area over the Chinese New Year. It had a good mix of cultural activities (cooking, tea, history, etc) mixed in with biking (on mountain bikes). A total of around 350km over 7 days with challenging climbs but a lot of rest stops and breaks along the way. Rustic homestays mixed with nice hotels. The... More

Had a great day, learnt to make very good jiaozi and guotie (dumplings), some of the history behind the name and the shape of the dumplings, and I am pretty sure I can make these by myself now :) Wonderful place in the hutongs, and very good hosts! Strongly recommend them, not only those who just want the experience of... More

If you are open-minded and ready for some fun, try The Hutong. The Hutong offers courses, classes and social events to Beijingers and visitors alike. It is an extraordinary concept in an exceptional location. I have had cooking classes there, hook & cook classes, yoga, photography, attended BBQs and beer tastings. As well as having the staff organise multiple activities... More

I live in Beijing currently and have been to the Hutong numerous times for group cooking classes, private cooking classes, and events. The instructors are very knowledgeable and the location is very fun. Their website gives great directions for folks nervous about finding the location. The food is always tasty - but have an open mind! If you are a... More

Having wound our way through a maze of lanes we arrived at their red double doors and stepped into a mini oasis. The Hutong offers a range of cooking classes and tours and has wonderful reviews so was an easy choice when we were looking for something fun to fill the afternoon with. Michelle, our New Zealand Chinese Instructor was... More

Three moms attended the Sichuan cooking class and then went back with our eight kids to make dumplings. The scheduled time did not work for us, so Sophia and Ben scheduled a private class. The set-up was very professional and well-thought-out. Everything went smoothly with kids aged 6-15. Sophia explained the techniques very clearly and the kids paid attention and... More

After a winding walk through a local neighborhood, we found our charming cooking school, the Hutong. The class was at capacity- 10 people, an eclectic group from around the world. Our instructor and her assistants were helpful and guided us through the process of making dumplings and eating them. The class was lively, well organized, and the end results were... More
