A Less Touristy Buddhist Temple
Sep 2014 • Family
It is hard to find temples in China where you feel there is actually religion being actively practiced. No monument or landmark in modern day Beijing has this feel to it, but at the Jietai Temple in Beijing's Western Hills you do get some sense of China's very long Buddhist history. This temple has many wonderful buildings, ancient trees and statuary. Be sure to see and appreciate the white marble double dragon statuary and climb the hill to see the ancient trees growing from the walls.

You will find some worshiper here (but not many) but you won't find as many tourists as at any major central Beijing location. If you leave yourself sometime to appreciate this temple on a fall day you will appreciate its serenity and gain a glimpse of its ancient past and the millions of worshipers whose needs it once addressed.

Bring your best camera, this is a unique photo destination.

i bought the combo tickets (RMB 85) with Tanzhe temple. it's even smaller then Tanzhe, Both temples are serene. Jeitai temple has a in house vegetarian restaurant. Initially we wanted to have Lunch there. but after reviewing their Rules and regulation, We refuse to have lunch there.
1) male and female counter part have to per-seated separately.
2) children are not allow to run around nor make noise
( not that i expect them to do so but kids are kids)
