This lovely wooded park is a favourite of Beijingers, especially in autumn to see the maple trees with their striking red leaves ( it’s traditional to collect them). Walk thru the lower areas spotted with pavilions & temples and winding paths to wander around, or take the cable car up to the top for some views of the surrounding hilly countryside.

When you want to get a break from Beijing’s pollution, this is THE place to go. Ridiculously fit power-walkers can get up the hill in 20 minutes – I usually do a leisurely hike for about an hour. And be prepared to be humiliated by the 60 year old guy sprinting up next to you going up and down the... More

From the top one have an amazing view of Beijing on a clear day with no smog or haze. From the top you may also take a hike to the surrounding smaller villages.

Don't go for a Chinese holiday, as the crowds will ruin it. The second time I went it was mid-week in Autumn, so the leaves were changing and the crowds were elsewhere. Unfortunately, like all height-related tourist attractions, Beijing's pollution will either diminish or destroy the views. But it was a nice series of hikes and a gondola ride (extra... More

The best time to go is early November, when the red leaves are out, but try to avoid weekends or public holidays, when you'll see more people than leaves! This is a long way from central Beijing and is quite difficult to reach by public transport, but it is well worth seeing. If you are a traveller in Beijing, I'd... More

It's a 5-6 hours hiking, requires you to keep yourself hydrated. Better to start early to avoid light issue. Better to choose better track else you may have to hike more in order to reach at the top. You can also go by cable car.

It is so close to town about 45 min. Drive. We went in a Sunny day but still was not able to see very well. The Park is really nice and with history. There is a cable car about 18 min/ each way. Prepare to have good walking shoes.

The most spectacular natural scenery in the Fragrant Hills Park is the red smoke tree leaves over the mountains. Best recommended to go in Autumn ( 1st Week of NOVEMBER) according to locals. 830 am - Transfer to bus 331 to XiangShan Station. We spent about 4 hours just eating & walking ard the park. Recommended to do half day.

The best time to visit this park is during autumn, where it is famous for its red leaves and scenery. I entered by the east gate. About 5 minutes after the entrance is the Tranquility Green Lake (Jingcui Lake). This lake is peaceful, though not that beautiful during my visit. Further uphill is the Fragrance Hill Temple, another typical Chinese... More

I started at the north gate entrance and took the rope way located just at the entrance. The rope way was amazing 20 minutes with awesome views of the entire park and neighborhoods. One way cost is 100 RMB but it is worth the money. People visiting with small kids have to be extra careful with rope way as it... More
