So I would recommend taking the gondola up and taking the toboggan ride down. IT was great. Bought beer up on the wall. It was hot. Way hotter then at the bottom which to me was odd. I put it back on my list of things to do again in my life.

Take a car or a tour to Mutianyu and the cable car up to the Wall. You cannot appreciate it until you see it in person. I was lucky to be there on a clear day and it stretches as far as you can see in both directions. Well worth the time.

As children and adults, my husband and I read about China, never imagining that we would have an opportunity to visit. But in December, we toured Beijing and the Great Wall with our guide, Cindy, of Catherine Lu Tours. If you visit China, don't miss the Great Wall! It is an amazing structure that exceeded our expectations. Even in winter... More

Amazing few hours on the Great Wall. The snow set the mood of such a beautiful and peaceful place. The amount of labor each stone took to build such a monument is incredible. My friend and I hired a taxi for the day and left early from Beijing. It is about 1.5 drive to the mountains of the Great Wall.... More

One of the better and slightly less busy spots to see the great wall. It's gotten much more commercial that when I was first there 12 years ago but still worth it. We hired a car and guide from Beijing (about $100 total) but felt it was worth it to be on our time schedule. Hold fast to your requests... More

Try to visit during winter time, little tourists. We went during the first week of January and it was perfect. Take a bus from the Beijing bus station and then a taxi to the wall, this will cost you half the price of a common tour.

Drove to the wall from Beijing, bought tickets, walked up the steps, rode the cable car, walked many many more steps, rode the toboggan, & had lunch. Very beautiful a lot of fun!

First let me just say this section of the wall is really beautiful the cable chair and Toboggon was extremely enjoyable. However our experience of actually getting to the wall was absolutely appalling. It's a shame that this is such a major world site that they allow scammers to taint the experience. Here's my story: -Prior to the trip to... More

Magnificent and awe inspiring. Watch out for the hawkers - once inside their shop you will see too many trinkets to buy.
