We travelled with a private tour. Beijing had experienced snow the day before and when we got to the wall the was a lot of snow and ice. It was simply beautiful. The wall is an amazing, must see destination. The surfaces are uneven and with snow it was also slippery. Think about taking additional clothing, particularly gloves and warm... More

This is the most brilliant location on the wall around Beijing. I have not visited much of the Wall but looking at photos this is the most interesting. I found it to be amazing, the view of the mountains is outstanding. I have visited Banff National park in Alberta, Canada and the view here are just as breathtaking. The Great... More

Was last week there, on a private tour, and definitely a great experience. Ideal time of the year. Maybe a bit cold and windy but even though a sunday, there was almost nobody there, hence no queueing, and lots of room to walk and make great pictures. A "must visit" when in Beijing

I was recommended this great wall tour in particular because it was thought to be well organised and have none of the common jade (read tat) shopping involved. The hostel responded quickly to my enquiry via email and I paid via Wechat (I live in China). I arrived on the day at 8.30am and we were soon underway collecting another... More

Number 1 on my 'bucket list' - the Great Wall of China. We joined a group tour thru our hotel on the first day here. Hotel pickup and return made traveling there uncomplicated. The guide gave some explanations which were ok when we could decipher her English. We were blessed with excellent sunny weather. We took the chairlift up as... More

It is one of the most accessible and less known spots to start visiting the Great Wall. Though of course popular, it is less crowded than the other spots. Before you reach the ascent place, if you want to walk, you will go through the unavoidable tourist shops in the bottom. Up there of course, you will start walking through... More
