Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This corridor was over 2200 feet long with over 80,000 paintings. T was a beautiful day and the the wind was blowing was it was peaceful. Not too many people here so that was nice. Lots to see but it's hard to take it all in while in a guided tour with a schedule.

When we visited the summer palace, we had a nice long walk along this long corridor. We sat on one of the long benches lining both sides of the corridor and had our packed lunch while admiring the lake views. Plenty of tourists.

If you go to the summer palace you will most certainly walk under this long and beautiful walkway. Keeps you dry when it rains and shaded when it’s hot. Many Chinese just sit and play cards in the railings. Take your time and look up as you walk or you’ll miss out.

During the visit to the Summer Palace you will logically walk along the corridor. Take some time to watch the locals play a range of games from card games, Chinese checkers and various others. This is NOT a show, but actual people having a great time. Stay a while and observe - especially the enthusiastic card throwing...!!

The Summer Palace is wonderous, and you can explore so many different parts of it. I typically enter though the back at the river city and take a boat over to the island. If you enter though the front gate, or walk from the island, you can make your way to the Long Corridor. It's long... And it's a Corridor... And it has lots of people...
The cool activity starts once you walk to the end of the corridor and get to the palace Gates. It's a long walk to the top of the palace, but well worth it. Go slow and relax at the Budha up top.

This is a long, winding, and seemingly endless corridor. Possibly it seemed extra long because at times I had to stop as tour groups went past. From section to section, there is little change in the construction, materials and painting, but the painted scenes in the upper portion are continuously different. I especially enjoyed viewing the painted Ancient China scenes.

I keep coming back and admiring the thousand of paintings, mostly on the inside of the covered roof. there are about 8,000. I especially like those in the octagonal corridor connections, not that they are nicer, but you get to see so many side by side.

It was nice walking under the roof covered long corridor. I enjoyed viewing its paintings on the upper side walls, and getting out of the baking 36C sunshine. The corridor is much, much longer than I had anticipated.

This long corridor is not the main attraction of the summer palace but it is one you shouldn't miss there.
Walking along it you'll see gardens, ponds, bridges, beautiful architecture ... Many interesting things ...
But most of all the paintings are not to be missed.
These paintings are located on the 2 sides of this corridor, adjoining the ceiling. They are really beautiful and describe landscapes, temples, war or historical scenes ...
You can see some of them on the pictures I have attached.
And in the middle of the corridor, if you just think to raise your eyes to the ceiling you'll see this kind of kaleidoscope of blue shapes, just above your head, which are simply astonishing.
By the end of the corridor you'll reach this marble steamboat which is famous but besides seeing it there is not much more.
Bottom line, if you already are there make sure you don't miss it.

The Long Corridor of the Summer Palace was basically an outdoor art gallery.
There were so many amazing little paintings - over 9000 of them.
I think the most beautiful natural art were the spectacular views from any part of this corridor.
In one of the structures overlooking the lake, the water and landscape views were framed perfectly by the two pillars. In my opinion, even the most professional photo will never ever do it justice.
A spectacular part of this palace complex!
