Eric Liu was our Tai Chi master, he was fun and informative. He kept the attention of the whole group whoses ages ranged from 10 to late 50s. The park was full of groups of people performing Tai Chi, and it was fun to learn more about why they were doing certain movements. At the end he gave us a little taste of Kung Fu and we had a lot of fun practicing on each other. We highly recommend this activity and seeing the Temple of Heaven!

Master Eric gave me a wonderful private Tai Chi lesson. I knew nothing about Tai Chi other than it looks beautiful. Eric taught me some basic Tai Chi concepts and spent an hour working with me on basic moves. He is highly skilled and a wonderful instructor. Can’t say enough good things about him. If you are interested in Tai Chi, Chinese culture, or just getting in some good, healthy exercise, this is the activity for you. 10/10

Great initiation of Tai Chi in a park, I was impressed by the tranquillity, the will and the strength of the teacher Eric Liu. He was really cool and nice. It gave really our trip a real chinese touch. Back home I looked at a lot of " wu xia pian " chinese movies. A really touch of zen. Eric spoke a perfect English, totally understandable for our poor FrencH ears...chinese music was out of this world !

Whilst walking around the temple of heaven grounds and sheltering from the rain we were treated to a visit from Eric Liu to show us some Tai Chi and then to give us a basic lesson. The experience was very rewarding relaxing and enlightening. Our instructor took care and used patience to help us all in the group to get the most from our lesson and to then maybe take Tai Chi up on our return home. Would recommend Eric's class if you are able to attend one and see and feel the benefits your self

Tai Chi is such a beautiful way to learn about heath and our self’s. It was great to start the morning with Eric’s class, practicing presence (mind, eyes and body). It is relaxing and fun in the same time. Eric is a great master and specks fluent English. Going to the tea class after was the perfect combination, Alice Yang is a tea expert and lover. What a great day! I am glad I picked up this experience so I can leave China feeling I immersed myself in this fascinating culture!

Fun, rewarding experience. Eric gave a broad perspective on Tai Chi and delivered an interesting beginners lesson. He then transitioned to Alice at Alice Yqng’s Tea House, who gave an exceptional overview of tea history, culture and the science behind harvesting & preparing tea. Both Alice and Eric were patient, hospitable and well-prepared. Great half-day experience in Beijing.

I am an ungraceful person interested in trying the slow, elegant Tai Chi moves. I contacted Eric due to the great Trip Advisor reviews. He responded immediately and we met at the East Entrance to the Temple of Heaven (you have to buy an entrance ticket) and walked a short distance to where Tai Chi is practiced.
We started with warm up exercises and then spent the rest of the hour on one pillar move, Pulling the Tail of the Peacock. Tai chi is really hard to get right even though it looks easy. It takes dedicated students two months to perfect this move and go onto other moves.
Eric explained the philosophy behind Tai Chi and you can see the faster Kung Fu moves based on Tai Chi and Tai-chi sword fighting being practised in the park. He is patient yet firm and makes sure your movements are correctly done.
Eric worked on a US cruise ship and learned English there so communication is good. He fell in love with Kung Fu movies when he was 9 and had a neighbor teach him some moves and then taught himself. He now runs a Tai Chi school of his own near the Temple of Heaven. He is an impressive person.
After the session with Eric, it was a god experience to wander around the Temple of Heaven and have a cup of Chinese tea to take in this unique experience.

Eric is a dedicated and patient Tai Chi instructor who gave most generously to me of his time while I was in Beijing. Despite the fact that my stay in China was of limited duration, training with Eric enabled me to acquire a foundation in this particular Tai Chi form, upon which I can now keeping building here at home in preparation for my next trip to China. I would strongly recommend Eric Liu to anyone visiting Beijing who has an interest in Tai Chi!

This Tai chi class was an amazing experience! The teacher Eric was an excellent instructor, he was very kind and patient, he checked my experience level and organized the lesson based on it. I am a beginner and he explained the basic forms with details and extra focus on the philosophy behind the practice, it was very inspiring. Having this class before visiting the Temple of Heaven was a very good idea because it helped to create the right mindset for the beautiful and peaceful views.
