We spent some time here on a cloudy afternoon, but the square was crowded with many locals, mostly, it seemed, grandparents taking care of toddlers. The square is surrounded by the Great hall of the People, the Chongqing Museum and many restaurants. We spent a pleasant hour there, even watching a water calligrapher.

Spend the evening there just observing the Chinese way of life and shopping. It's a lively place to be.

We spent an entire afternoon in Chongqing. I'm sure there was so much more this city had to offer but we were limited on time with a tour group and had to move on to our next destination.

Really has to be seen and experienced to be fully appreciated. Its mixture of Western architecture into a Eastern architecture and building works extremely well

Clean and bright with many interesting vendors selling oranges etc. Surrounded by beaufiful hotels and a large temple. A nice place to relax.

It is a large open space in downtown Chongqing. On its ground are neatly paved marble tiles with rows of trees along the Remin Road.Surrounding the square are flower beds and a large fountain at its corner. Chongqing's iconic Great Hall of the People is across the square. It is a reminder of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. The Three... More

I was in Chongqing primarily to begin my Yangtze River cruise, but had a few hours to kill. People's Square seems to be the center of several interesting places to visit, including the Three Gorges Museum and the People's Assembly Hall. The central arch is pretty spectacular, and the terraced gardens are nice. In the square itself you will see... More

The square leads on to the People's Assembly Hall. Not much going on on my visit, but there is some interesting market stalls and shops below the Assembly Hall.

Best seen after sunset when the temp drops a little. The square comes alive with Tai Chi, dance groups, Zumba and just people in general. All the tour groups are back in their hotels and leaving it to the locals. What is nice are the whole and street vendors both trinkets and food. The local tea shops provide you with... More

It was crowded with Chinese tour groups but the crowd aside it was fun walking the street by the square an watching all the different shops. There is a food street, they sell all sorts of yummy snacks, tasty and cheap too. It is easy to get a taxi later to drop you off to you hotel
