This is the centre of Chongqing and the monument is best seen by night when all the lights show Chongqing at its best. The monument isn’t large by any standard especially given its title of the liberation monument. The area is crowded and if that’s...More

Nice illumination of the skyscrapers and lots of high-end stores around. In the surrounding area there are a lot of local street food which you should really try as much as possible. The monument itself is really unnecessary to visit.

Surrounding pedestrian street is the real interest here. Lots of shopping. Several high end stores. Nice area to walk since no cars are permited. Does get a bit crowded on weekends.

This monument's name literally means 'Liberation' to symbolize the activities taking place on Nov 30, 1949 when the Communist Party's army liberates Chongqing from the Kuomintang party. It's surrounded and dwarfed by skyscrapers around it but its influence of the neighbourhood remains.

This PLA Monument is dwarfed by all the tall buildings in the vicinity. A place for some picture moment and then more to do with shopping with the many malls located here. A very busy place during day and night. More lovely at night when...More

The monument is central to the square but the side streets are much more interesting... Find Yonghui supermarket and explore downstairs to see the fresh food (don't go if you are squimish about raw meat) but even better is the old market just around the...More
