The area
Neighbourhood: Mong Kok
It’s one of the highest density districts in the world, so come to Mong Kok prepared for action. Home to every market, restaurant and shopping arcade imaginable, Mong Kok is the one-stop shop to satisfy all your shopping needs. Dust off your finest negotiation skills and dive into the bartering frenzy. Similar retailers will conveniently congregate in the same area forming easy to remember references such as “flower street” and “sneakers street.” Here you will also find various local delicacies being served at street snack shops or hole-in-the-wall restaurants. One reliable rule of thumb: the smaller the place, the better the food.

Actually this is one of the best shopping streets in Hong Kong if you like quirky things. Loads of Korean and Chinese fashion shops with inexpensive but interesting fashion. Some outlets and a couple of secondhand shops among leather, jewellery and vegetable and fruit stalls. Take your time and go up and down every side of the streets. Many gems are hidden behind other stalls.

This is an old fashioned street market near Prince Edward station. Busy, fun and full of locals. There were lots of clothes shops on either side of the market itself (which is a closed off street). The stalls were mainly bags, trinkets, local clothing. The streets around the market are worth exploring. Great food everywhere. Fish street was interesting.

The street market here is one place that I would try to go whenever I visited Hong Kong. It usually see a good crowd on weekend afternoons. You will see many stalls selling clothes, fruits, gadgets, bags, etc. Definitely worth a visit.

The Fa Yuen street markets encountered a fire late last year but I'm a happy to report that everything is back to running full steam ahead now. And all the stalls seem to be new, more modern and the area just seems nicer now. The Fa Yuen market is similar to the Ladies market with more practical things to buy, hence why its crawling with locals instead of tourists. But there is lots of great stuff there to browse and pick up at cheap prices.

While its a nice attraction on its own, its best to combine with other Mongkok area markets, particularly the Bird Market, Flower market and the very exotic Goldfish market just one street over. We recommend combining these 4 area markets in Mongkok for a great afternoon of sight seeing in Hong Kong. If you go later in the day, you can have dinner after Fa Yuen street and then visit the Ladies market on Argyle.

Sadly we stumbled upon this market on our last day. Really good & cheap buy compare to elsewhere. Definitely cheaper than ladies market as mentioned below by the reviews. Love the shops along the street market here. As for the shops along the street, they don't have any fitting room to try the clothes on as my partner wanted to try the jeans but found out no fitting room provided. So it's like buy at your own risk & guess whether should the clothes fit u well. Highly recommend for those who is unsure which street market to go to probably should come here. For non-fussy buyers.

I went to Fa Yeun Street to buy sport gears, especially sport shoes. A hundred of sport goods shops were placed in every block of the street. This was very good to compare the price shop by shop, brand by brand, to get the best choice of mine. You can find every type, color, size, design, brand of sport shoes with different prices from low to high price to meet the money in your pocket. After going to many shop, and trying many style of shoes, I bought Nike shoes in black at HKD 359 at MAX shop finally. I did not know this is cheap, or not. At least, it was cheaper than Nike in Thailand 20%. I was satisfied with that.

Used to live in HK and this is my favourite place to shop for inexpensive clothes and home accessories. You can get everything from clothes and shoes to towlels, fruit, underwear, and home gadgets. You don't bargain or haggle here, the prices are set. Less crowded and toutisty than Ladies Market and Temple Street Market. Less souvenirs and imitation items here. Be sure not to miss the sides behind the market stalls where there are mostly women's clothes and shoes and accessories shops. Bring your own reusable bags and cash. If you need a washroom, find a nearby Macdonalds or go to the shopping plaza above where the walkway overpass is.
