We took the old ferries a few times, crossing between Kowloon and Hong Kong Island. It's very cheap to do so HK$2.5 for adults (about 30 US cents) and well worth it. The views are good for both sides of Hong Kong, the ferries seem to be constantly running and the journey takes a few minutes.

Once upon a time, the Star Ferry was the only way to travel between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, then the car tunnels came, and then the MTR. If you're taking the Star Ferry, you're doing it for nostalgia or because you're a tourist. It's a great way to see the skyline of both Kowloon and Hong Kong Island. The... More

A scenic and very cheap way to see the harbour and to travel between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. Ferry's are every 10 or so minutes.

A blast from the past, enjoyed the unique experience of travelling on the ferry. Tried to get on it after busy morning hours. I would say after nine in the morning is best or before 3:30pm if you want to stay away from the crushing crowd.
