We visited this building in night. I have seen this building during day time but from far. You can cross this building on ground floor from one side to another. Public is allowed to visit till first floor. Rest all are for employees. There are two lions in front, you may give pose with them. This is a big spoon... More

I went to the famous HSBC building recently. If you look at the lions and the plaza area just under the building there are some gold and black square tiles. You can scan them if you download the mobile app - called HSBC Virtual Story. The lion story is really cool but the best is the plaza area. You can... More

The building it's self has a fair bit of history, but the underneath is a brilliant time line model of HK and how the area has been reclaimed over the years from the sea. Out back are two lions that symbolic, but if you look carefully you'll spot the scars from WW2 on one of them.

I am Italian, totally trustworthy. Hong Kong has seversl skyscrapers, mostly insignificant. This worth your 15 minutes visit: ground level and 1st floor atrium. Once you have half day to spend in sightseeing, come here and then go up on the peak train: they are distant each other 500mt.

Ascend the escalators to view the amazing open plan lobby of the Bank's HQ. Another of Sir Norman Foster's architectural marvels, take your time to understand the meaning of the geometry and rub the paws of the two bronze lions on the ground floor for good luck. Don't miss the bullet holes in the the Lion Stitt where it was... More

HSBC is one of the world's largest banks, but unfortunately the red tape in working with them is no fun and frustrating. I would avoid making use of their services particularly in business. There are many other banks that will be supportive. The building however is spectacular to look at and clearly shows were you money is been utilised.

I love this building, created in a style that is to be used like Legos. They actually built it in a way that they can take apart every piece and ship it somewhere else. This was particularly interesting during the handover period, when many people thought that hundreds of corporations would flee Hong Kong to avoid the consternation of China's... More

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
