That was a busy tourist area full of jewellery shops, restaurants etc. You may find some local cha chan teng (local Hong Kong cafe) around but those buildings were really old and some appeared to be dirty and not well maintained. If you know where to go for shopping and good food, Nathan road would be great to go. So... More

Miles of shops and restaurants, with good value if you know what you're buying. Plenty of Indian tailors who harass you to have suits or shirts handmade. These men try very hard, but I've yet to find an unpleasant one.

In Soy Street, you can shop very cheap and interesting things there. Also, this area has many difference territories' restaurants.

Is perfectly located on busy Nathan Road within the shopping, dining and business district of Kowloon where modernity meets heritage. Nathan Road runs through the most important shopping areas in Hong Kong. No other road gives you access to such a mix of shopping choices from international designers to local crafts and everything in-between. In fact, it’s mostly for locals,... More

You can't miss THE NIGHT MARKET on Nathan road in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Block after block of trinkets, "stuff" that will eventually get you to buy. There are plenty of places to eat ... cheap and quite good. From 6 pm to midnight every night of the year.

Nathan Road is quintessential HK ... but not really good for shopping. I think Kowloon gets much more interesting when you get up past Jordan Station. The night market and some of the restaurants a very good.

Staying in Jordan / Yau Ma Tei

Neighbourhood Profile
Jordan / Yau Ma Tei
The Jordan and Yau Ma Tei neighbourhood is where you will find some of the more authentic areas of Hong Kong. Not as glamourous or busy as its neighbours Mong Kok to the north or Tsim Sha Tsui to the south, Yau Ma Tei is often mistakenly overlooked by visitors on their trips to Hong Kong. Exploring parts of this area makes you feel like you’ve been transported back in time. A large part of the neighbourhood draws from the rich history of Temple Street, stretching from Jordan to Yau Ma Tei, where a mix of dai pai dongs (outdoor restaurants), market stalls, fortune tellers and old karaoke bars bring out the history and culture of the area. The neighbourhood is a showcase of diversity – different ethnicities, cultures, and a mix of old and new.
