Very fun area. Lots of streets and alleys to explore. There are a lot of steps and steep areas so not everyone can navigate this part of the city. Expensive restaurants in the area and lots of antiques. The best bet is finding the mid-level escalators and going to top--then weave your way down on the streets.

Hong Kong Soho has a lot of foreign pubs which are quite expensive. It is overpriced and over-crowded. Not a must see.

it is good for dining or just to have a drink. pretty much for any taste. I like the atmosphere while wasing around to find a restaurant. This place could be in a European city, too. So go there if you feel home sick or if you have wanderlust :-)

A very nice place to go for lunch, brunch, dinner or drinks.... So many restaurants to pick from and then of course you have all the shopping. On Pottinger street you have a small fleemarket, with small shops. The stairs are the originals ones. The shops don't sell anything you really need it's just a fun little place to watch

Worked above SoHo for 10 years. Always my favourite part of Central/Sheung Wan area. SoHo has grown over the years. Some places have endured. Quieter and more relaxed places to enjoy a night out. Very eclectic places around the area.

Reminded me of San Francisco but with steeper narrower roads! Fun, lively, hip, worth a visit but take the escalators.... this is a grueling trip. You need to be really fit to try it!

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
