    Easily accessible nice relaxing beach
Even though it seems far from the city center, this beach is easily accessible as there’s lots of buses going to it. We decided to take the mtr to Ocean Park and walk by the coastal road pass Deep Water Bay before we reach Repulse Bay. It’s a very easy beautiful walk that takes around an hour or so. Repulse Bay is located quite urban and yet has that secluded beach feel. It has a maintained beach toilet for cleaning up after your swim in the beach. There’s restaurants by the beach and an arcade where you can buy water or sundries to eat by the beach. It’s family friendly too.

    Great place to unwind
Great beach to unwind. The sunset during autumn months is spectacular. The nearby Tin Has temple is also beautiful. There are great food options near the beach and the sanitation facilities are also good.

Too Crowded with thousands of people... How about trying something new and nature?
Repulse Bay is a public beach with restaurant, shop, toilet facilities nearby, kind of convenient, but always crowded with people, especially recently there are tour operator taking hundred of people to "visit" this beach. If you're looking for enjoying a different holiday, nature, quite island, I would recommend going to a little island just 8 minutes boat-distance away from repulse bay by taking a speedboat. You can go snorkelling, enjoy a even more crystal clear water there.

    A paradise with dirty water
The beach looks like a dream and is not crowded. However, despite cleaning efforts, the water is filled with literal garbage. You can find everything from food containers to toothbrushes floating around you if you dare to go in the water. I believe this debris is washed in from the sea. You cannot rent seats or umbrellas, so you need to bring your own or sit next to one of the trees planted on the beach to get some shade. If you visit, stay at the far end, as many tourists arrive by bus (near the public bathrooms) and sit right next to you to get shade. They also took pictures of us, which felt a little weird while we were in our bathing suits. I hope we find a way to stop polluting our seas and make this beach a paradise.

A lovely beach, but the people absolutely ruin it! I, a British Chinese girl visited with my family. I was enjoying sunbathing until I woke up to see a group of tourists visiting for the day taking photos and pictures of us. While we understood many weren’t from the area and hadn’t seen mixed or British people before, this is no excuse to violate basic boundaries and show no respect to others visiting and minding their own business! As we were at a beach, we were in bikinis, so the shoving of cameras in our faces by multiple people made us extremely uncomfortable. One woman even got physical with my sister, touching her and posing to get a picture with others behind laughing. We made it as clear as we could that we were not comfortable with this, but they decided to ignore us and carry on. Although this can been a lovely day out, you must expect your boundaries to be crossed if you’re not Chinese.

The Beach at Repulse Bay is probably one of the best we have in Hong Kong in terms of beach size, sand quality, access to public transportation and area restaurants and shopping. This is a nearly 300 metre long stretch of seaside nuzzled up against the southern shores of Hong Kong Island. It is one of a series of beaches including Deep Water Bay Beach (to the northwest), Middle Bay Beach and South Bay Beach (to the southeast) and by far the most interesting.

You can visit Repulse Bay beach by public bus or taxi or by foot walking the Seaview Promenade from Deep Water Bay. You'll find promenade and pier areas on both ends of the beach with park benches. Alongside the beach there is a shopping arcade called the pulse, where there are a handful of alfresco restaurants, coffee shop, ice-cream as well as s sports gear and other retailers.

The beach itself is pretty good. In addition to the nice sand quality, there are several rows of trees towards the back of the beach providing a bit of shade on sunny days. You'll find expected range of facilities including public toilets, changing stations and life guard stations, BBQ pits (unavailable during the pandemic). Swimming is good at Repulse Bay Beach with normal sea conditions and views are nice with favourable visibility.

Do note that Repulse Bay Beach can be very crowded during warmer weather weekends and public holidays during non-pandemic times. As such, you may find it more favourable to opt for a second beach like nearby Deep Water Bay Beach if there are too many people here. Otherwise, this is a very good beach to spend time with friends or family on Hong Kong Island.

As a white British mum with a Hong Kongese husband and two adult girls we were shocked to have our relaxing day at the beach ruined. Coach loads of Chinese people descended on the beach to take photos….not a problem till you realise they are positioning themselves in front of you so they are taking a photo of you! Some women even ran on to my daughter’s towel to pose for a photo of her in her bikini! How rude! We said no photos and they just didn’t understand the boundaries this is NOT acceptable. Men clearly videoing us, no permission. Luckily an English/Mandarin lady came over to tell them to go away. Not what we were expecting on a day trip out. Thank goodness we were not staying in any of the hotels nearby!

Repulse Bay is definitely one of the most well-known attractions in Hong Kong. The white, pleasant beach is already too famous for any further illustration. Locals and tourists alike flock to the area every weekend. Even for non-swimmers, the waterfront view is amazing.

Repulse Bay is the most famous and popular beach in Hong Kong. There is a Guan Ying Temple there which is popular with both tourists and locals. There are restaurants scattered about, one directly on the beach itself, which is in a building with change facilities. There are some elegant restaurants and cafes on the former Repulse Bay Hotel site, which has been recreated as a shopping/restaurant complex. Taking a walk on the sandy coast was an authentic refresher after urban traffic and smog as well as gave us an eco-friendly glance onto Hong Kong...by the way Jackie Chan has a huge mansion there too.

Repulse Bay is the most famous and popular beach in Hong Kong. It's Chinese name is "Shallow Water Bay", which is an apt description - the slope is gentle. The sand is coarser than years ago, since the beach has to be replenished from time to time. It is very clean, and there are life guards.

The bay is horse shoe shaped, with surrounding mountains full of luxury apartments. This area shares with the peak the distinction of being the most exclusive and expensive areas in Hong Kong.

There are restaurants scattered about, one directly on the beach itself, which is in a building with change facilities. There are some elegant restaurants and cafes on the former Repulse Bay Hotel site, which has been recreated as a shopping/restaurant complex.

On the east side of the beach is an area full of fanciful Chinese mythology and religious statues, gates, bridges and other structures, including a huge statue of Gwun Yum, the goddess of mercy.

The whole area is very scenic, and a "must see" if you're in Hong Kong. A taxi ride is not expensive, but there are also many buses (the number 6 series) which go there. It is much more scenic to take the 6, 6A or 6B and not the express through the Aberdeen tunnel. Sit up at the very front of a double decker if you can - it's almost like a thrill ride, with the bus swaying just a few feet from the cliff and the drop hundreds of feet below. Do this on the right side of the bus going there, or the left side coming back.

After Repulse Bay, you can also continue on to Stanley and its famous market by resuming your bus journey - also a very scenic ride, especially on the way back.
