- TravelTrips12Sydney, Australia396 contributionsConvienient express service to the airportParticularly from Hong Kong station, this is a fast and convenient way of getting to the airport - and at a fair price. The service was fairly frequent, and most importantly, still operated during the T8 typhoon signal. Seats were comfortable, the ride was quiet, and there was plenty of space to stow luggage for the short trip.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 October 2023

- DavielandAuckland, New Zealand986 contributionsQuick train into the CityNice quick service. Clean trains. On time. Great when you are on a layover and want to explore Hong Kong. We purchased tickets online and used our phones at the barriers. Very easy to navigate to the station at the airport. Lots of signage. We’d use again.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 22 January 2024
- DIna L3 contributionsTravel in styleEfficient and quicker way to reach the city metro. Very clean, you get free wifi access during the ride.i purchased my octupus card at their airport counter. Hence was able to ride train to city.. Return your card ro the counter after your visit to HK and get instant cash refund of remaining balance in your octupus cars.Visited March 2024Travelled soloWritten 26 March 2024
- Zandalee EPerth, Australia129 contributionsEfficient and Easy to useExtremely easy to use, cost HK$115 to go to central station and a further HK$10 to go to the station nearest to my hotel and took 30min, total AU$ was less than $25, online estimates had the trip costing ~AU$90. The Metro and airport lines are so easy to use. All stations are labelled/announced in Chinese and English. Very clean and trains run frequently. Definitely recommend working out the train system, getting an Octopus card (metro card) to save time and money.Visited August 2024Travelled soloWritten 17 August 2024

For HKD 115 you're paying a quarter of what a taxi will charge. It's faster, safer and quieter. The only issue is you arrive at HK main station and then need to find MTR or get as taxi or shuttle to your final destination. The transfer from main station to MTR is quite long so best avoided if you have heavy bags.

What we love about going from airport to HK is the airport express, the quickest way about 20 mins from airport to HK station. The ticket booth located after HK customs , each tiket one journey costs 110HKD , train departs every 5 minutes . Airport express in HK and kowloon station provides city checkin for those going abroad and baggage drop as well that goes directly to HK intl airport . And they print out the boarding pass , so you dont need to hassle .

It's fast, clean and convenient. (If you have apps like klook, you can even buy the tickets at an discounted price.)
There are free shuttle buses for hotels at the station. When you leave you can also do early check ins there so that you have more time do more last minute visits without having to worry about your luggage.

From the central station to the airport is a comfortable, quick and cheap way to travel from the airport to the city and we got to see a variety of areas of Hong Kong on the way. Hotels have a free shuttle bus to the station and the trains. are very frequent.

Having traveled to cities all over the world, the Hong Kong airport express is by far the most convenient way of commuting from the international airport terminal into the city. Most other cities don’t have as much ease of comfort and efficiency.
Traveling on the airport express is easy. You just need to buy either a one way or round trip ticket at the airport (or at any of the airport express terminals). The journey takes about 20 minutes each way, and you are conveniently transported to Tsing Yi station, Kowloon station and Central station.
It’s fast, it’s always on time, and comfortable.

We used airport express to Kowloon station. Couldn't be easier. The staff at the desks are very helpful. The announcements on the train are clear to hear. A free shuttle bus service is provided to and from your hotel from Kowloon station which clearly states the next stop. Upon return to Kowloon station you can check in and drop your luggage off. Fantastic.
When we returned to the airport we had time to spare. The staff at the desk helped by telling us which bus to get to see the big Buddha and even provided the correct change for the fare!!

HK's airport express in Central, IFC has one of the most convenient and efficient in-town check in services for many key airlines! The trains runs every 15-20 min and takes approx 30 min door to door to T1 and T2. Clean trains with comfortable seats, highly recommended. Beats getting stuck in traffic or having to ride with crazy fast taxi drivers of HK!! If you buy tickets with Klook, it's even cheaper. Try it!

Booked a ticket online for $90HKD which was a little cheaper than other options. Was staying a few minutes from Jordan MTR station and ended up walking from the hotel to Kowloon MTR station with is where you can also board the Airport Express train. The walk probably look longer that the train ride did as it was walking across streets and elevated pedestrian walkways dragging two pieces of luggage. Station was huge, modern and amazing. Easy to get around and plenty of signage and also people to help. Plenty of room on train with a designated luggage area and comfortable seating. moved pretty fast and with only a couple of short stops later you are at the airport. Would definitely use again as it goes all the way to HK island near Central. Can take the MTR to Kowloon or walk if you are nearby the station like I was.

Best way to travel to/from airport to Kowloon. Bought our tickets online prior to our arrival and got a good deal for 2 adults and one child. Paperless ticketing system and all you need to do is scan your given QR code to board the trains.
Train station is located at the arrival hall. Sufficient sign boards will show you to the platform and you are allowed to use the airport trolley right up to the train platform unlike some airports.
Trains are clean, comfortable, fast and efficient. There s also room/racks to store your baggage on board the train. With a 10 minute interval between the next train, you don't have to wait very long for your train. In less than 30 minutes, you will reach Kowloon station. Highly recommended and it's way cheaper compared to taking a taxi.

First time in Hong Kong, cost to Central on Hong Kong Island one way 115HKD, cash only at the ticket machine.
Very frequent trains, with large areas for each seating area for your luggage.
Sit on the left for the best views as you zip towards your station.
At each station part of the deal is a free shuttle bus to various hotels, check with the desk clerk to see if yours is on their route.
Alternatively next to here are conventional taxis, have the address you’re going to ready in Chinese, it appears they do not use satnav, meter seems to be used automatically, you will be charged a surcharge for each bit of large luggage.
Highly recommended method

I bought a HKD350 Airport Express/MTR Unlimited Pass for 3 days which I planned to use on all MTR and Bus routes. The card does not work on Buses and I have had to pay cash each time. Please advise whether this card should work on Buses and if so why this problem persists ?

The airport express bus did not charge extra for taking me from the train station to my hotel. But I don’t think regular buses are within the coverage of airport express.

Hello. Can you change your seats at these British airways check in desks (like you can at airport desks ) or is it purely to check in luggage only? Thanks so much

Hello, I was wondering if you recently traveled to Hong Kong. We are looking to use the AE to get to Causeway bay, but saw that protests currently may hinder the use of the AE. We are traveling with a young child and would appreciate any advice. Thank you

I travel frequently in and out of Hong Kong and always use AE. There have been times when the train will only run from HK Island direct to Airport . I will be using this Sunday 12 Jan when i arrive

Hi, does the airport express stop at Fortress Hill or is it only airport to Kowloon with no stops in between?
Written 29 July 2019
Agree with previous two comments , just check that during protests ( particularly Sundays ) that the AE will not only run HK to Airport which has happened in the past

We hebben nog geen QR code ontvangen voor de AirPortExpress (en zijn binnen 48 uur daar) , alleen de streepjescode op het toegestuurde ticket. Op het telefoonnummer op de ticket krijg ik geen gehoor. En nu?

Don't know for certain as I have always purchased my ticket after exiting the Arrivals Hall. But there is a service desk just before boarding the train; I suspect they'll be able to help you sort this out. It's your best option at this point.

How much is the ticket for a child 10yo?
Written 7 May 2019
$52.5 HKD to Kowloon, $57.5 HKD to Hong Kong Island/Central one way or same day return; slightly less if you have/us an Octopus card (assuming the child is aged 3-11). Under 3 is free with an adult fare; 12 and over are adult price.
