We visited 1st of May - the Mausoleum was packed - but we were so lucky to sneak to this place where a small string orchestra played a beautiful concert - a mixture of classical music pieces. It was a very sunny day and the amphitheatre was not overly crowded. Apparently not many people knew that this concert was held.... More

We popped in here as we had a ticket for all main Purple Mountain sights. The amphitheater is inspired by greek architecture with stage surrounded from 180 degrees by water. The stands were patronised by many people eating lunch. Overall a nice sight but nothing too impressive. Would be better if it was used for performances. The sight is 5mins... More

If there was a band or activity on the stage it would have been better. Paid extra (small amount) to walk down to the bandstand. Many people were just sitting and eating lunch.

Visited in November 2012, this wide arena for symphony and band sounds like an ideal place to be to near to an unrehearsed concert! The columns serve as the background of the symphony hall) It's always lively in the forest to listen to beautiful music. Unfortunately, at the time when I visited here, there was NO live music( But I... More

Sun Yat-Sen's Music Stage is a relaxing area of the Mausoleum complex to go after competing with the crowds into the main Mausoleum itself. When inside, you will often be greeted by hundreds of white pigeons either circling in front of the Greek looking structure (see photo gallery) or pecking at bits of food left on the grass. Every so... More

We were here by Sept 2014. The ticket cost RMB$10/head. When the time we came it's Sunday therefore we saw many families. There are many pigeons flying everywhere. Many kids feed the pigeons. Suitable for family gathering on weekends. Besides that it's nothing to see.
