I received my permit for Tibet the day before I left by train to Lhassa when I had booked my tour and paid my deposits for weeks. It created stress for nothing. Others in my group received their permits late and arrived in Lhasa a day late. What posed problems of reorganization of the planning ... And our guide managed to show us around the monasteries only at times when there was no prayer despite our requests. The rest was ok but before of what I have written prevously I do not recommend this agency.

I am only giving 5 stars to my guide Lobsang who was kind and knowledgeable and not responsible for the incompetency of the agency located in Chengdu. Communication from the beginning was with Helen which initially was fast and I received my Tibet Travel Permit in time despite the Chinese holidays at the beginning of October. I was told my permit will be waiting for me at my hotel in Guangzhou China. When I arrived none of the staff members could speak English and couldn't find the envelope that should've been waiting for me at the Front Desk. I had to ring Helen to explain. After sometime, it was found but clearly not well addressed. My name and hotel stay was not written on the envelope. There was an electronic stamp that said my first name only but it was in very small print. After checking with another Guest on my tour, I noted that his name was fully written clearly on the envelope. When I mentioned this to Helen, she said my name was too long but that doesn't explain why my name could not have been written on the envelope itself. The next day I was taking a flight to Lhasa and received a text informing me that I would have to wait for 2 hours after my arrival to be picked up. When I arrived I found the driver who then informed me that I had to wait more than 3 hours which was very unreasonable. why did I have to wait 3 hours for someone else to arrive only for them to be driven straight from the airport without waiting? The driver would've taken me in if I paid USD 60. I should not have had to pay that so instead they put me on the bus. When I complained to Helen and wanted reimbursement I received no response. I was sharing a room with another girl on the tour and when I got to the hotel I found I had to pay a deposit for another room key. Normally 2 keys are given when 2 people are occupying a room. Given that this tour enables people to share to avoid single supplements, they should've ensured a 2nd key was available without a deposit. Everyone on the tour was expecting us to walk the 2kms to Everest from base camp the next morning. We woke up to see the sunrise but unfortunately we could not do the walk because one of the guests had to catch a flight at 4pm in Lhasa on the 7th day of the tour. The agency changed our itinerary to accommodate one of the travelers who was leaving a day earlier instead of carrying out the original itinerary for the group. Logistically, the agency lack communication and customer service. On the day of my departure, I was sharing a ride to the airport with other passengers who were booked with a different tour company, giving me the impression that many of these tour companies out there are associated. My suggestion is to find a local tibetan company to manage your tour.

Our trip advisor Helen was very helpful and responsive, we were very lucky to book with Budget Tibet Tour. Beautiful Himalayan scenery, excellent guide and driver. We felt very safe the entire time. Great snowy vistas and old monastery structures. Reasonably priced, lots of variety on this tour that we took. Definitely recommenced!!

We did a private 4-day Lhasa tour with Budget Tibet in August and it was fantastic! Helen was a wonderful help in preparing for our trip. Our visas were a bit delayed, and we were worried about getting our Tibet permits on time, but Helen came through for us. She also arranged for their delivery to our AirBNB in Chengdu. In Lhasa, Tenzin, our guide, was wonderful and informative, and kept our teenage kids engaged and interested. Awesome tour!

BTT could solve our problem finding a tour that would fit in our scheduled holidays. Helen was always helpful in and promptly answered our questions - reason why we choose this company to organize our trip to Tibet. Guide and driver were a high point in this trip. Always good stories, good mood, and conversations. Remarkable experience!
