- Jeremy E106 contributionsSo much potential, but not taking advantage of what's been builtThe buildings are really beautiful, but maybe 10% were open on a Sunday. Saw some great kids dance competitions (incredible costumes), and a few museums, but almost all buildings are locked up, and no signs other than the name of the region. Of course it's hot, but with only electric vehicles it was relaxing to walk around without the constant noise of cars. The cable car (extra cost) was fun and a great way to see things from the air; the shuttle bus (free) also gave an overview. Unfortunately the narration is only in Bahasa, so not great for foreign tourists. And the museum signs are almost all in Bahasa only. It was interesting to see several new buildings under construction. What they need is to invest in more people to explain what they have. This could be a great place for both locals and tourists, but it seems to be falling short of its potential.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 15 October 2023
- Getaway075598250258 contributionsAlways worth a visitI had been a regular visitor to Tamin Mini between 2009 until 2019 on my annual visits to Indonesia but Covid and the restoration meant I had missed the last few years. I totally loved this place being somewhere you can spend a day without playing any of the additional fees to go in the specific museums even though the charge is not high it can add up. The individual themed museums are mostly good but some exibits in the technical ones are not what I would call up to standard especially the steam locomotives rotting away in the transport museum. One aspect that could be improved is the cable car rides on which yo get on and off at the same place after doing a lap of each circuit, the cable car stations are not adjacent so if you want to go on more than one walking is involved. Room for improvement as there has always been. There used to be a railway around Tamin Mini which does not now seem to be running and staff I asked seemed not to know if it will again but they are now employed by the government so I would not expect them to know anything. To rent the golf cart was 800,000 IDR for 2 hours £41 ($51 US) but it was not clear if this was the self drive or with a driver as the man in charge was away and a junior was in charge. But there are free electric shuttle busses now the area has gone green (ignore ppl burning rubbish which you can see from cable car) and walking always an option. You need to get here early especially if you intend to use the shuttle busses, not so bad weekdays but this still is a popular place. Another reason to go early is the proximity of Indonesia to the equator, yesterday Jan 16th it was 35C in the afternoon. The most amusing thing is that you can book online however the cost is exactly the same plus an additional booking fee. I am sure some of the minor glitches will be sorted I do not need to post pictures because they will be no different to the many posted.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 16 January 2024
- bookmuseumtravel122 contributionsSo much improvements had been madeI was so glad that this huge complex got renovated after unmaintained for so long. The landscape, some museums and traditional houses were already refreshed and updated but some were still need improvement. The Bird Park and the Komodo Museum had been renovated into awesome attractions. I do hope that they will renovate the Indonesia Science Center (PP-IPTEK), Transportation Museum as well as other museums too in the near future. The toilets are now easy to find, scattered in all buildings even in the parking lot and they are all clean. Oh, don't forget to prepare your seat before 6pm in the Plaza Promenade to watch the dancing fountain Tirta Cerita that will tell you Indonesia famous folklores.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 22 March 2024
- stoobzAl Khobar, Saudi Arabia84 contributionsIf you are in Jakarta for more than a couple of days, this place is worth visiting to learn a bit more about IndonesiaI really enjoyed visiting the museum. There is a lot to look at and learn about - and as a non-native speaker, I found the QR code on each exhibit very convenient to get the translation. The cable car ride is a novel way to see the entire park and all the structures therein; however, it can get a little hot and sticky in there so if it's a hot day in general, perhaps save the ride for another day. A lot of staff might not speak English, but they are very polite and helpful; and a bit of common sense also goes a long way.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 August 2024
- GrsY280LQ12 contributionsThere is a lot to see n do here. The entrance gate guy had a non functional credit card scanner. Couldn’t read my phone (touch-VISA) or credit cards. This whole place is cashless, so we wasted 10 min developing a workaround. Inside, it’s clean and there are plenty of shuttle busses (trollies) that will drop you off at anywhere you ask along their route. Some facilities are needing repair, like the church and science museum and science museum toilets. The Indonesia history museum was very excellent. See pics. The tour busses play nice music with their horn.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 August 2024

It was closed along pandemic hit Indonesia, I thougt it was forever but they actually upgraded the places. Now they're already open with new face. In line with its name this place is miniature of Indonesia, since my country is big, you have to come at least once in a life to see Indonesia in a wrap. The ticket price is 25K, you can buy online or offline.
If you're travelling with kids, they will love this place. A lot facilities can attract kids such cable cars, museums, amusement park, swimming pool and children palace. My little brother did enjoy with "kereta gantung", you can see whole places from above. You'll spend 50k per person, I suggest you to order by traveloka because sometimes it's only charge 45k per person. You can visit "anjungan" (refers to traditional house) to see its uniqueness from province to province that Indonesia has.
Besides, they have several museums such as, museum of transportation, nautica and marines, science and technologies, birds and so on. Actually I visit it again after years because my lil bro is a railfans now. We visited museum of transportation, and get a good experience. They have a lot of trains collection and we tried the replica of steam train C19 series. It brought us to take a tour around the museum, you can buy the ticket for IDR 5K per person /trip.
Now, you cannot park your vehicle inside. They serve you shuttle bus to go around. You can park yours at the parking building which is quite far from the first shelter. When I visited, there're queue but it's not take any longer to start the ride because some cars already waited in line and it's free. I though It makes the air and environment more clean, one of TMII's new upgrade that I love.

If you came from country with cycling culture, you must visit this place. No car or motorcycle allowed in the area. You will see many Indonesian traditional house, dance and shows, in a green protected huge park with a bike lane with ticket only 3USD per person. i really recommended this place if u only have limited time but want to see and learn more about indonesia.

Genuinely can't figure out the business model for this place. Maybe it gets busy on the weekends. I went with two friends on a Monday and the place was absolutely desolate. There were more employees than tourists...and there weren't even that many employees to start with. The place was EMPTY and many of the "attractions" were closed.
The admission is super cheap, less than $2 USD, but that's because you have to pay to enter the attractions inside the gates. As previously stated, many are closed.
My friends and I did enjoy the reptile exhibit. They have several dozen snakes, lizards, and frogs on display inside a climate-controlled building, and tortoises outside in various pens. We also visited the aviary but were a little disappointed that most of the bird species are kept in small individual cages rather than being allowed to fly freely inside the larger enclosure. Perhaps this is for their safety if the birds don't get along.
Overall I was just astonished at how empty this place was considering its massive size. I have no idea how they can remain in business, but maybe they get a government subsidy.

Beautiful houses, but yet the place was dead.
I visited TMII with the expectation that this would be a place where I could learn more about various Indonesia provinces and their cultures, but in the end it was just a bunch of empty house, where there we no opportunity to learn new stuff or see beautiful traditional garbs and the like.
There is also a small knock-off of the Disney castle, it's nice, but it stick out like a sore thumb.
There is also a cable-car, and I hoped that a trip with that would improve my impression of the garden, but it did not.
Remember to bring plenty of water, there are very few shops where you can buy water in the park.

After many months staying at home we started going outdoors. We found TMII as the appropriate place, it was not too crowded, affordable and also a place that offered many educative experiences for children. We went to Taman Burung (bird park) and Museum ikan air tawar dan serangga (fresh water fish dan bug museum). All gave beautiful moments for us and there are so many other places inside TMII that we plan to go to later

Nice idea if you stay in Jakarta for a long time, otherwise it is not worth it.
The park has potential, but it's not cared for enough. Everything seems a little fake.
There is no writing, especially in English, describing what you are looking at.
Would not stay there again.

I took a public transport to the main gate (gate 3). Was told by the security to proceed to purchase an admission ticket on the left side of the gate. The ticketing booth was a temperary tent which was about 200 meters away & I have to walk under the hot sun (what if it rains?). The staff told me that there was free shuttle service located at the admin building about 200 meters on the right side of the main gate. That means I have to walk back. To main gate + another 200 meters in the open air! How horrible was the ticketing booth location?
When I reached the admin building, I was told that the shuttle service station was not there! The staff guided me to walk about 400 meters further in !
POOR MANAGEMENT!

How could management let it happen, that you sell life turtles to kids? They are being sold in a too small and not animal proof container, way too little water, even with other parts in in so they will probably die before these kids get on their bus. If they don't die by then, the trip to their home without proper nutrition nor water, they will die a horrible dead!! How could you be so barbaric to let this happen, day by day, by hundreds of tourists?

My advice is that you better rent a car and guide as well as your personal driver, You can go around the city and get various explanations. here, try searching on Google's Java Private Tour, he is quite well known throughout Java Island.

May I ask what are the hotels or airbnb accomodations near the Park? We will stay only for one night as we plan to go to Yogyakarta after. How far is it from the CGK airport? Thank you
Written 24 September 2017
Hotel Santika Taman Mini Indonesia Indah for example. ~IDR 900,000 per night. the park is in ~60km from the airport. With no congestion on the road it takes 1,5hr to get there. But keep in mind Jakarta traffic is crazy and unpredictable so it may as well take all 3 hours even if you take the toll road.
