With an 24 hour layover in Jakarta and a bit of jet lag, I took a recommendation from my hotel to take a taxi to visit the MONAS. First the grounds that the MONAS sits in is a large park that you can walk about and great for people watching. Most of the visitors were Indonesian, so it is a... More

I went to Monas a couple of times while in Jakarta. On the plus side, the big park surrounding the spire is peaceful, and the view from the top of the monument itself is decent. However, there are several problems I had with the monument: First, the lines for going up to the spire become gigantic. When I first arrived... More

I have rarely seen a national monument like this anywhere else, which has spirit of nationality to its core. Its modern, its testimony to nation's glory and resolve. This 132 metre tall tower has an observation deck at the top and there is a lift to go up there. There is flame built on the top which is covered with... More

The monument was very crowded the day we visited, and so it is better to go very early and miss both the long lines of people and the busy street traffic. Alternatively go late afternoon when a little cooler and the crowds not as great.

Monument Nasional is calles MONAS. MONAS is one of the popular landmark in Jakarta. Most peoples who come to Jakarta says that they haven't came to Jakarta if haven't visited MONAS.

If you are tripping to Jakarta (from abroad), I can say you have not gone to Jakarta unless you go to Monument National 😀. Go to the highest level and you may see Jakarta from above. But prefer go at night, then you may see the beauty of Jakarta from above. Mostly you will see is building. Good yo try... More

It is big, it is huge and on the inside almost empty. On the four walls in approx 30 displays is the history of Indonesia displayed. Nicely done without too much reading. The waiting line for the elevator to go to the top was way too long and thus we skipped it. Overall a nice hour we spent here.
