Took a jeep tour of Mount Merapi, which included a house museum memorializing the last eruption, a view of a lava flow, a bunker, and a view of the smoky mountain peak. The ride was really fun, and the views were wonderful. Definitely recommended.

Went here with the Sakha Holidays sunrise tour in January, ie. pick up at 10pm, start climbing at 1am, summit at 5am. We were very lucky with the weather - it had rained the day before so the skies were clear and absolutely gorgeous when we arrived at the top. A lot of people warned us prior to climbing that... August 2016, i went to Jogjakarta by Garuda Indonesia Airlines, to visit my friends who stayed in Jogja for several days. It's only 2 days holiday, but i had a pleasant experience to visit Merapi Volcano Tour. We took it at 4 PM, actually it's better for us if we get there earlier since the cloud is thinner than at... Beautiful mountain. Amazing to see the power of nature. We went via a Jeep ride which was exciting and memorable. It's wonderful to see that the money raised through the tourism industry goes back to the local villagers to rebuild their lives after the eruption in 2010.

Climbed Mt Merapi on one of the Kresna tour night hikes of Mt Merapi. For this tour it was definitely worth the money and booking with a company as they provided a guide, some water and breakfast after the hike. Weather was awful so we didn't get much of a view or climb the last section but definitely an unforgettable... More

I booked the Merapi Trekking programme with Kresna Tour Agency for Rp 450,000 inclusive of two-way transfer to and fro hotel, local guide, entrance ticket, light refreshments and breakfast. The driver picked me up at 10pm from my hotel and I was later joined by four other participants before heading to the base camp at New Selo. We started trekking... More

It's a relatively challenging hike for someone who only trained for 6 weeks to climb a mountain that's almost 3000m above sea level. We started at 1am hoping to see the sunrise. It drizzled at the rest area where we had a cup of coffee and visited the toilet. The toilet is clean. There were about 5 guides to lead... More

I thought we'd be visiting an awesome volcano - but this experience is a little flat. Some interesting sites (an old house caught in the middle of the last eruption) but it wasn't life changing.... there might be other ways to see the volcano in a more striking way
