Description:

The Palawan Butterfly Ecological Garden and Tribal Village is a place that...

The Palawan Butterfly Ecological Garden and Tribal Village is a place that reflects the mesmerising beauty of a province that is known as the "Last Frontier of the Philippines". It showcases a sheer variety or tropical butterflies from the Southern region of the country. These free flying butterflies are surrounded with live exhibits of scorpions, green-crested lizards, phasmid and mantises which are considered their natural predators. It is a window to the natural ecology of these colourful insects. Another added attraction are the rescued endemic wildlife of Palawan. These animals are given the chance of a second life by being rescued from poachers and wouldn't have survived in the wild because of the probability of suffering the same fate all over again. Like the Palawan Peacock Peasant and the Palawan Bearcat, these animals are now ambassadors of their own species in the wild. By educating the public about these wild yet gentle creatures the facility promotes public awareness about how our actions as human beings can affect greatly everything in our environment.

You first walk through the butterfly garden, which is pretty cool, and then you go to a theater, where the indigenous people display they customs. I found the "show" to be fascinating and only wish there could have been more interaction with them.

The place is nice, they show the entire breeding cycle of a butterfly. The management is still poor and have a lot of scope of improving further. Especially the tour guides, they should be more elaborative and patient with people for their questions and queries.

The Palaw'an tribe was the highlight of this destination. I would have loved to see more and learn more of their way of life.

A little out of town but interesting to see several species of butterfly & dragonfly. They also have the famous local Peacocks, a crocodile, & other animals & will let you touch stick-insects, lizards, scorpions, etc. - if you wish. The local history display by Southern Tribe's People was most interesting & items to buy...

We visits the butterfly garden with the expectation of seeing butterflies only. We were very surprised to find out that we were given an extremely friendly guide of the attraction. In addition to the butterfly garden, I think the best part was the cultural experience after the butterflies. They have local families from up in the mountain regions come and... More
