The Marina Bay Sands Hotel looks spectacular. This area is especially beautiful at night time with all the lights on the skyscrapers. - NickyP54Bargara, Australia1,494 contributionsBiking and lightingTo really appreciate Marina Bay try a hire bike ride clockwise around the pathways that hug the shoreline. So many sights to take in along the way and very few pedestrians to navigate around. The Marina Sands Bay Hotel, the Singapore Flyer Wheel, spectacular bridges, the National Stadium, Bay East Gardens, the Barrage and of course, Gardens by the Bay. You may also spot otters swimming close to shore and we also encountered a Pangolin Lizard. Then make sure you return in the evening for the Spectra Light Show for a completely different experience, where Merlion Park is a great vantage point if a little crowded.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 March 2024
- TangthaiBangkok, Thailand5 contributionsIconic landmarkI visited Marina Bay with my family in July. It is a breathtaking architectural marvel that stands as an iconic landmark in Singapore. One of the highlights of Marina Bay is Marina Bay Sand Skypark, which offers panoramic views of the Singapore skyline and Marina Bay. The surrounding nature is very beautiful, I could take photos everywhere. Many tourists walk around, picnic and take photos there. There are many interesting food markets such as Laksa and Bak Kut Teh. There are so many delicious foods and most Singaporeans can speak English well so it is easy to communicate. Moreover, there are important highlights that as a great and spectacular fireworks show at night. On the opposite side of Marina Bay Sands, there is another important highlight, the Merlion. You can walk and take photos there all day. It is a great place to relax with your family. If you travel to Singapore and do not go to take photos and check in here, it's like you haven't been to Singapore."Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 2 April 2024

But loads to see and explore. The place is geared up for shopping and enjoyed. Taxis are low cost and easy to find and get a lift anywhere - it’s expanding quickly with little shopping areas more suited to day trippers or back packets too. - WikumjRedhill, United Kingdom433 contributionsThe heart of new SingaporeWe weren't sure whether to come to this as we thought it was just a hotel but it is much more than that. The true architectural icon of Singapore, this is a large hotel and shopping complex, and definitely a must see both for taking photos along the coastline but also to explore the spectacular shops inside. You can even ride boats Venice style within the shopping complex! Sure most of the shops are luxury brands outside our price range but it still feels special to walk through. I would recommend taking a stroll along the waterfront, where the Art Science Museum is located, back entrance of The Shoppes. Do your walk late afternoon so that as you walk along the waterfront you can take photos of the city skyline during the day.
Cross the Helix Bridge which is a stone's throw away and you're where the Merlion is at and with a great view of the Marina Bay Sands Resort. Why late afternoon? That way, after taking in the sights during the day, you can hang around the area for dinner and then do the same walk in the evening after the sun has set to take in the night scenery.
There is a Light and Water show that is free of charge at the Marina Bay Sands waterfront. It starts at 8pm, 9pm and 10pm. Check the hotel's website for more info. It lasts about 15 minutes.

Marina Bay is located in the central area of Singapore and known for some outstanding attractions, hotels and buildings in the area, such as the Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands hotel.
There is a 3.5 km waterfront promenade around Marina Bay where you will run into the Merlion statue. The Marina Bay comes to life during the evening when the lights from the skyline reflect off the water, making it look spectacular. The entire area is well kept, sure wished more cities took their cue from Singapore.

This has to be one the most impressive hotels in the world. I didn't stay here so I cannot comment on anything more than my experience as an observer. We had arrived early morning on the back of a 13 hour flight and hungry for a decent breakfast. We headed straight for Marina Bay sands hotel in anticipation of something substantial. The entrance, needless to say, is very impressive and one's eyes are immediately drawn upwards to the structure and architecture from the inside. On the ground floor one will find an assortment of very good restaurants. I would absolutely recommend 'Rise' you can't miss it, in fact don't miss it! We felt as if we had struck gold, and the was before we had even sat down. I can honestly say I had the best ( and longest ) breakfast I have ever had in my entire life. It was self service, along side waitress service clearing tables and serving tea/coffee. On offer was all the regular food one might consider breakfast consumption, and then a whole lot more. Cereals, meats, cheeses, pastries, fruit, yogurts, fish, vegetables, breads, Indian and Asian influences, waffles, french toast, eggs and so much more. It was a case of how much of these wonderful foods can I try before I'm full, than how much can I eat to get my monies worth. If you are a resident ,then I assume breakfast is included in your stay. We paid just under $100 for 2. I'm sure one may go else where in Singapore for a decent breakfast, but I would challenge anyone to match this for quality.

If you are visiting Singapore, I highly recommend you make time to visit this place. Budget about 3 hours, and time it in the evening, from 5pm onward. There are very nice paths to walk and enjoy the sights and the sea breeze while doing it. After 6pm the lights come on and the whole place is transformed. Finish your visit there with a drink at any one of the many drinking holes dotting the place.
Must visit: the Matrix Bridge, the Merlion, Marina Bay Sands Casino (show your passport, then entry is free), the Esplanade.
If you want to include the nearby Gardens by the Bay then budget another hour for the light show at the SuperTree Grove (7:45pm and 8:45pm).
Entry is free.

Me and friends with children were present for the drone light show and fireworks display on New Year’s Eve. Fireworks started at 1045pm and continued with few breaks until midnight. Seems like the whole city was there, so when it was time for everyone to leave, there were some intense crowds. Thankfully the mrt ran well past midnight and we were able to take it all the way home.
There was also a carnival set up on one side of the bay, not far from the Sands hotel. We didn’t spend much time there but it was a fun atmosphere! Hard to do crowds with the stroller tho.

2/10/19. Arrive about 30 minutes prior to the first water/light show at 7:45pm on the waterfront to get a good viewing spot. Amazing! Lasts 15 minutes. Stand on the promenade across from the Marina Bay Sands for the best view. At 8pm, there is a one minute fireworks show; awesome. Walk around the promenade to your left. At 8:45pm, they do the 15 minute water/light show again and a 1 minute fireworks show at 9pm. Watch that second shows from the other side of the harbor at the public promenade outside of the Fullerton Bay Hotel. There was an 8 minute fireworks show at 10pm for the final night of the Chinese new year celebration. Absolutely awesome. Marina Bay is a must do/see. Hard to describe how fabulous this was.

Someone on here has written the lightshow lasts 30 to 40 minutes. They wrote their review while I am sat here in Singapore. I can see the light show from my hotel. I've seen it every night. It lasts around 12 to 14 minutes. And it's weak. Heaven knows how someone can say it lasts 30 to 40 minutes. They must have been tripping.
Someone else on here wrote that it's far better than the waterfountain show outside The Bellagio, Las Vegas. Are you kidding ? There's no comparison. The Singapore lightshow is so poor. It must be the worst lightshow I've ever seen, repeatedly, over several nights. As for Marina Bay .. of course you'll come. It's probably the main thing you want to see in Singapore. But ultimately it's a shopping mall with the same outlets you find in every city in the world, and a hotel. It's a Disneyland theme park without the Disney characters.

We were visitors to this premise and if you wanted a drink up at the rooftop bar the were ticket options prior to entry to the lift. We traveled with another couple and paid for the presecco bottomless package $30 or $40 (can’t remember). We were there late afternoon to see the sunset, which we recommend and left at nine. We got our monies worth with the view and service. Average drinks are around $20 each. Singapore is amazing but very expensive. This place is worth visiting at least once.

The hotel is a marvel. The views are awesome and the pool is extremely awesome
Only one thing let this hotel down. It is very busy and so mistakes can happen, queues are a plenty and luggage can come to your room after 3 hrs.
Is that a biggie - no but it does feel big when you're paying top dollar.

Spent the late afternoon wandering through the Gardens by the Bay domes, walked towards the marina and grabbed a bite to eat before sitting down to watch the sunset over Marina Bay. Thoroughly enjoyed the 15 min light show with a great view from the large area next to the floating Louis Vuitton store.
Make sure you arrive about 45mins before to get a good position - big crowds but not overwhelming

Are there fireworks in Singapore?? If so are they nightly at Marina bay or just for the national day on Friday the 9th.??
Being a tourist what and where should we avoid on Friday 9th??
Any ideas on doing something special for a birthday while here??
Written 6 August 2019
I believe the fire works was the practice for the national day.
We reserved ce la ve before getting to Singapore and it was great because there was a long line up for everyone else. We were there for 2 days only so we just tried ce la ve at nights and watched the light show on the vertical trees at night. That was every night at 7:45pm and 8:45pm. Good luck!

Hello. I stayed in the Pan Pacific hotel near the bay but it is very large and you may find it better to be in a smaller hotel. I've found hotels in Singapore good.
For sight seeing there are a lot of things to do - gardens, the Sky Park (standing on top of 3 towers in the shape of a boat), China town for cheap gifts and lots of shopping malls. The people are very nice and most speak English. Enjoy.

Hi - the question is a little confusing - the Hop On Hop Off Buses operate around Singapore on fixed routes - there are a number of providers at different prices but are valid for 24 hours or more if selected - they visit most of the Singapore attractions -- stopping nearby so you can hop off see what is to be seen and then return to the bus stop and wait for the next one to come by - Google will display several choices - the River Tour is run by a separate company - the boats run from Read Bridge up river to Marina Bay - there a number of Jetty's (stopping points) along the route - you buy your tickets at the booth (SGD25 for Adults SGD20 for children) board the boat - take the trip - about 50 mins - and get off where you got on.

Hi, I am planning a visit with two kids.
What are popular attractions at the bay?
How much time should I reserve to enjoy at the bay?
What time of the day is best?
Do I need to book anything in advance?
Written 17 February 2019
You might want to plan a whole day around the area as there are many shopping and eateries surrounding Marina Bay. With two kids, you could start in late morning by taking a Mass Transit Train or bus to Marina Bay sands. Start at the hotel or convention centre, walk around there in air-cond comfort if you like. then walk through the hotel to Garden By The Bay. There are two indoor domes there but if you want to save the entrance fees, the outside gardens is huge enough to walk through. Bring your kids to the Childrens' garden and let them play and get wet to their content. Then walk a little further south to the Marina Barrage and you could fly kites and have a little picnic overlooking the sea front.
Walk back to MBS and to the Helix Bridge by evening to see the stunning lights surrounding the Bay, The Flyer, etc... From there you could walk to the Merlion esplanade and thereafter to more shopping areas. there are eateries around that you may be spoilt for choices. Bring bring umbrellas or cap along in case of raining or too sunny.
