if you're thinking of buying a lot of souvenirs then you definitely must visit Chinatown! From keychains to t-shirts, you'll definitely get a good bargain on anything! But first, try to roam around the whole place before deciding to buy because different stores offer different prices. The ones located deep inside Chinatown have the best bargain prices! and when you... More

The Chinatown street market encompasses four main streets which include Pagoda, Temple, Smith and Sago streets and narrow lanes with an endless variety of tourist style stalls. Tt is easy to spend several hours here shopping for bargains, although many cheap souvenirs are most abundant. There is also plenty of pastries, several restaurants and cafes to indulge your taste buds... More

A visit to Chinatown always nearly saves travelling to China. Whether it is rare medicine, herbs, foods or home decor stuff, you can find it all. Just, never be in a rush.

It is a must while visiting Singapore but we prefer the place once it is dark. Many souvenirs shops around and also some antique shops but most important for us is the number of nice Chinese restaurant you have in Smith Street where you mainly see locals. Would recomend the Restaurant Manchurian (18 Smith Street). It is a jewel if... More

lots of shops lined along the pagoda street, give a complete Chinese feel. The shops are mostly for budget shopping (but also have premium outlets like the Tintin shop!!) Good for picking up souvenirs, tees, and other chinese things.

O was recently assigned to live in singapore for 2 years and one of the first places I visited with the family is Chinatown. Our impression was great, you really can feel the Chinese culture, see some Temples and buy typical Chinese ornamentation, clothes and of course a lot of souvenirs. Tip; avoid sunny days because at mid day you... More

Step off the MRT and head towards Pagoda street and step instantly into a market. My top tip is as you get off the MRT head into the reflexology place and get your tired feet and shoulders worked on for an hour, then head to the market fish cafe on the corner, the prices are fantastic, the atmosphere alive and... Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
