Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Last night on our way back to the hotel we passed this church which we found open even though it was late, because some kids were decorating it. The interior was brightly lit and very bright with strong air conditioning. A large organ is located at the top of the building near the entrance.

I made the mistake of visiting on a Sunday morning and as such wasn't able to go inside (due to a church service). But from the outside, and the peek I took through the doorway, this looks to be one of Singapore's prettiest churches. SOme quite nice stained glass windows inside. Worth a look.

St Joseph's Church needs a sum of 24.4 million SGD for the restoration of the 100 years old building and the Parochial House. The Mother Church has launched a Fundraising Appeal; the associated Prayer Card features Our Lady of Fatima, St Joseph, St Jude Thaddeus and St Anthony of Padua.

St Joseph's Church has closed for restoration work since 1 Aug 2017. Masses will continue at the Cathedral of Good Shepherd: Weekday at 6.30 pm, Sunday at 1 pm, and Devotion to Our Lady of Fatima will be celebrated every 13th of the month. The Sunday 3 pm Latin Mass has been moved to the nearby Church of Sts Peter and Paul Church and the new time is 6 pm.

A catholic church built by the Portuguese Mission. It is located very near our hotel (InterContinental). The color - white and blue linings seem to symbolize peace. The church has a portico supported by four columns and the dome is interestingly octagonal in shape. The architecture really catches the eyes of architecture/design and history buffs.

If you're into Opus Dei, this is for you. There is Opus Dei confession available weekly. It is a very pretty church, but in need of a coat of paint. The music ministry is very nice, and the speakers clear. If you want to hear Mass in languages other than English, just check the schedule. Masses on Sunday at 8 and 10 are definitely in English.

Fr Ronan Murphy, during a brief stopover in Singapore, celebrated Mass on Sunday Oct 16, at St Joseph's Church. This was the 3 pm Latin Mass, and it was really inspiring to hear his homily. The following day, he celebrated the 6.30 pm Mass, giving another great homily. After Mass, he went on to deliver a one-hour talk on the Fatima Apparitions. This time, he elaborated on the faithful way St Padre Pio carried out Our Lady's wishes, eg giving utmost importance to Praying the Holy Rosary. The worshippers were truly inspired; quite a few of them stayed behind after the talk to dialogue with him. And to make the evening complete, the Church handed out prayer cards related to Our Lady of Fatima and St Padre Pio. How appropriate that Fr Murphy's visit re-emphasized St Joseph's traditional links with Our Lady of Fatima!

I like to visit amazing building (hubby is a builder) This is a nice old church (1853) built in the shape of the Latin cross. It is able to accommodates 1,500 worshippers. The Neo-Gothic architectural style is evident in decorative architectural elements of the windows and roof, all over the church are marble statues and altars. There are also Portuguese azulejos (decorative tiles) on the walls of the church portraying the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima. The church was named after St Joseph by its first priest Francisco da Silva Pinto e Maia who arrived 30 June 1825. However, he fell ill and passed away in 1850, before the church was completed. His remains were placed beneath the main altar. In 1981, the control of the church was passed from the Portuguese Mission to the ordinary jurisdiction of the Archbishop of Singapore, ceasing to be a parish church and becoming a church of devotion. Today, while the last Portuguese priest ended his term in 1999, the church still observes a number of Portuguese traditions. It still attracts Catholics from all around the island for its famed annual Good Friday procession. Have a look if your into good architecture or religion.

Since I lived right next door to St. Joseph's, I had no excuse to miss Sunday Mass. They have English Masses on Saturday and Sunday evenings at 5PM, but I preferred the 8AM Mass on Sunday morning since it's still comparatively cool outside and the church is not air conditioned, but the electric fans keep the air circulating and comfortable.
The building currently is undergoing renovations, so certain parts of the church aren't accessible. It's a pretty church now, and I'll bet it will be magnificient once the renovations are complete.
