We took a train to Kranji MRT station followed by a short bus ride on 925 which stops at Kranji Reservoir Carpark B. From here it is a short walk across the road to the visitor centre. Bus 925M which stops at the Wetland Centre Entrance only operates on Sunday and Public holidays. On Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, there is a Kranji Farms Shuttle which stops here and a few other places such as Bollywood Farms. The one day pass costs $5. We walked the coastal trail with a view of Johor Bahru and it is wheel-chair friendly. This trail also leads to the Wetland Centre. there is a cafeteria here with vending machines for food and drinks. We crossed the main bridge and were enchanted with the view provided by Hide 1.1. We walked in an anti-clockwise direction. If short of time, the main hide is only a few steps away in the clockwise direction. It is possible to climb up the Aerie Tower to have an aerial view. All the trails are shaded by the numerous trees such as the sea hibiscus. An enjoyable walk with friends in good weather. On a weekday, one need to walk back to the Kranji Reservoir Carpark B to catch the bus back to either to Choa Chu Kang MRT or the Kranji MRT.

Although I’m a Singaporean, this was my first visit to Sungei Buloh. It didn’t disappoint! We went at high tide on a rainy day (the worst time to see crocs and otters) but we still saw a white-bellied sea eagle which was kindly pointed out to us by one of the volunteers Calvin. We bumped into him at Eagle Point. We walked around the rest of the reserve and met another very helpful and friendly Indian gentleman called Kris (not sure how to spell his name) on a buggy who gave us a lot of information about the wildlife there. On our return journey, we actually saw a 3m croc hanging out by the gates of the reservoir. Apparently he waits there for the reservoir gates to open and catches the fish that come out with the flow lol. Kris came round at that moment on his buggy and gave us some background on the croc which made it very special. If you see any of the park staff/volunteers, do speak to them as they have so much knowledge and are willing to share. Calvin and Kris made our visit all the more special so thank you very much!

It was our first visit to the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. We arrived on a Friday evening around 6.10pm. It was relatively quiet, lots of parking space and just a handful of visitors. One of the staff reminded us that the park closed at 7.00pm. Given that we had just about 40 minutes of time to explore this place, we decided to keep to the coastal trail. There are pods dotted along the boardwalk which are great lookout points. We visited the Fantail Pod and Eagle Point. Both offered stunning views over Strait of Johor. We didn’t spot any crocodiles or eagles. Will have to come back another time. While there are buses that ply the Kranji MRT Station and Sungei Buloh route, I think it’s much better to drive there.

A beautiful and diverse habitat to visit. The reserve is home to many kinds of plants and animals in the forests and mangroves. We were able to see a monitor lizard, a king cobra, many species of birds, mudskippers, mangrove horseshoe crabs among others. Crocodiles and monkeys are found there, but we weren't lucky enough to see them during our visit.
