About
St Andrew’s Cathedral is one of Singapore’s most treasured works of architecture. Gazetted as a national monument on 1973, you’ll stand in awe at its majestic facade, with extended pinnacles and a glossy white exterior. The main cathedral in Singapore and a stunning example of the architecture of the area which I so adore, so striking and clean.

In the center of Singapore is the cornerstone of British colonialism, a gorgeous, sparkling white, neo-gothic Anglican church. As an Episcopalian, we had to visit for a service and we greatly enjoyed. While the exterior is stunning white against a lush green environment, the interior is a beautiful balance of shades of blue with natural wood and white. I will also say the service was truly worldly with a English rector, Nigerian associate and a congregation of Chinese parishioners. For us it was one of the highlights of our visit to Singapore. However, even if you are not an Anglican, it is an impressive house of worship.

By European standards it is fairly plain, though the white and blue painting and modern stained glass give it a light and airy feel. However in the modern city it is a welcome reminder of the history of the colony and well worth a look.
A rare gothic style building in the area, entry is free.

St. Andrew’s Cathedral is a good looking cathedral in Singapore central business district. The church has existed on the site since 1836. Friends and I made a visit here one evening in December on our way from Boat Quay back to MBS.

We stumbled into this beautiful cathedral (stumbled as it wasn't on our radar) and were very happy to have found it. It feels so welcoming, even if the cathedral is a different faith than yours (as was the case with us).

On a very hot and humid day in January, it was cool inside and soothing to the soul. There are hand stitched places to kneel which are quite beautiful. The interior is simple but welcoming.

Hopefully we'll return if ever we are able to return to Singapore.

I took a quick look at this historic church. It is pretty inside, but quite simple compared to churches in Europe. I spent a few minutes walking around the outside and then the inside. The inside has some stained glass and some nice decoration, but it is nothing too fancy. If in the are it is worth a quick visit.

The cathedral is white walled and unfussy in design but still possesses a photogenic spire and interior. It is a nice cool retreat from the hot and humid Singapore climate.

The church itself is nice enough but I would not call it spectacular as churches go. What is interesting is the history of the church during the growth periods of Singapore

Visited during the lunchtime service which was relatively well attended, mostly I would say by locals. This gothic revival styled cathedral is built in the most amazing white stone and stands out against the backdrop of Singapore's modernistic skyline. Well worth a visit.

I visited St. Andrew's Cathedral in October 2019. You can walk there by taking the right exit from the Raffles City MRT stop. The cathedral is a nice photo opportunity from the outside. I went inside and was impressed by the stained glass and altar.
