Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our much anticipated trip to the Falkland Islands was unfortunately tainted by the cost of a one way ticket with Penguin Travel's shuttle from the port to Yorke Bay. We were charged $30 each for a 5 mile ride! Thankfully, we had decided to walk back as a total of $120 was out of the question for such a short distance.

Sorry but as you can see by your image, this is not our company who you took the shuttle with and we do not sell a shuttle to Yorke Bay.

Arrived in Port Stanley aboard the cruise ship..we had no planned excursion off the ship….we walked around a short time visiting the church (beautiful) and shopping at cute little shop near the church …we talked to a nice lady at the port who was selling bus ticket to Gypsy Cove…the bus ride is like a hop on hop off…great ride to the Cove and we wandered around for several hours…did not have long to wait for the return bus…bus drivers were friendly and safe….at Gypsy Cove we saw our first penguins up close, the bus ride was well worth it. ($20/person round trip)

this was set up through Princess Cruises but it was Penquin Travel that ran it. We had a great morning of stories of life on the Islands including some of the events during the 1982 war. The personal stories made it so much more interesting.

An inexpensive way of seeing the Penguins at Gypsey Cove.
Buses leave at regular intervals, and you can come back when it suits you, on any of their buses.

Others saw more breeds of penguins. But we asked for a place which should be accessible with one vehicle for our group only. It should allow a disabled friend to join. It should not be too far away from Stanley (only 45 minutes). Martha of Penguin Travels suggested us to go to Bertha's Beach. It was great that we could find some chicks of Gentoo Penguins. We had an excellent tour guide (Adele) and an outstanding driver (Tanzi) - I would say a hell driver. She took us on ways I usually would not drive anymore in my car. We went not immediately after arrival in Stanley, so we had Bertha's Beach very much for ourselves only. Last not least we got tea-time which was included in our price. This was a very English style, and it was the perfect end of a beautiful and impressive tour. Looking forward to what we can discover more next time.

We used Penguin travel for the Airpport Pick up and Drop off they were excellent, with the same driver who was fun to chat to. A really fun driver and very helpful in carrying heavy luggage which is always a bonus.

We visited The Falklands in February 2018, and booked the North Pond Penguin Colony tour via Princess Cruise Lines. Accessing the penguin colonies was a 2 hr drive, some of which was over dirt roads and rough terrain via four wheel drive SUV. The tour stopped at a family cabin where we ate a box lunch and viewed photos of the colonies and the Falklands war with Argentina. We drove to the beach where we were very close to Gentoo and Magellanic penguins. Our guide was knowledgeable, as he answered all of our questions as a 7th generation resident of the Islands. At the end of the tour our guide gave a brief tour of the town of Stanley. We got some great close-up photos of the birds and their activities on the beach and in the water.

Booked through Holland America excursions, we travelled to the North Pond Penguin Colony via a Toyota Land Cruiser. Most of the trip was on good roads but the last bit is cross country The SUV handle the rough landscape well and brought us directly to the penguin colony. Spending time amongst the colony was thrilling and watching the chicks frolic was amusing. The Gentoos did not seem to mind our presence and will come quite close as long as you are respectful of the wildlife. A fun day with lots of opportunity to photograph some penguin antics!

We booked with Holland America and Penguin Travel took us out to Newans Farm to see their breeding colony of Gentoos. The cross country drive was fun in and of itself, then we were left out by the penguins.
Immediately my husband was latched onto by a vey friendly, bright young man, Tyler. All of 11 years old, Tyler was well informed about the penguins and his grandfather's farm. He was quick to point out to us the solitary King standing in the middle of the Gentoo rookery, a solemn, handsome bird.
The chicks had reached the age where they were forming groups among themselves which gave us much to watch, with Tyler pointing out various behaviors.
We walked around, keeping clear of the nesting area, taking pictures of the beautiful bay where the parents marched to and from, fishing to feed their chicks. Tyler was sure to point out to watch for the fence and not go beyond, as 'there are still land mines left after the war'...
On the way back, our Penguin Travel driver took us by an inlet where hundreds of birds were wheeing and screaming -just beautiful! An added nature bonus!
