The hike is a bit difficult but manageable. There are some excellent views on the way up, and some foxes joined us a couple times which was really cool. The trail is typically well marked, but we had some confusion when we were there at...More

Arduous hike to the peak of the reserve, but you rewarded with panoramic views of 4 volcano´s and lake Villarica, absolutely worth the trek! Busses leave frequently from Pucon for cheap

Simply put, this is a beautiful hike! Great views, hidden little waterfalls, and lots to see. Monkey puzzle trees at the top. We even saw a condor (I think).

It takes around 5-6 hours in total. The place is wonderful but the first part of the hike is not that pretty. Rough beginning but gets better after the refuge. I recommend camping at Laguna negra, close to the top. Lots of weird wildlife like...More

The path is EXTREMELY steep at the start that I almost gave up. After the refugio, I actually got lost so I turned back. The path is not well-marked so be-careful. Also, there are cows and goats that may block your path. Just walk, they...More

Hold on until the top: the view is breathtaking! You can go there in bus. P.S: if you have walking sticks, take them with you, you will need them!

Took a bus from downtown for 700 CLP one-way (USD$1) that drops you off right at the start of the path. There is a station there with maps where you pay the entrance fee of 4000 CLP (USD$6). The hike wasn't that tough and was...More
