this is an excellent museum. Curatorial work is outstanding. There is a sense of history and geography here that is helpful to tourists. Very easy to walk to from the Magnola.

They have lovely pieces that are well displayed showing both geographic and cultural context. The pottery and stone work is shown with as much context as the jewelry.

This museum presents artifacts and history from around Latin America from the times before European settlers. There were a lot of cool items in the museum and the descriptions did a good job of explaining the peoples and cultures of those times. It was an...More

I loved this museum, particularly as it showed artifacts from civilizations I had never heard of. I was particularly fascinated by the knotted strings that were used to record events.

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting this museum. It is housed in a colonial building, the old customhouse, but the interior architecture is modern and striking. The artefacts are displayed beautifully, with useful English explanations and in clear chronological order. This was one if the highlights of...More

Very nice collection of pre-historic artifacts in the Santiago downtown, Very easy to walk to it from several different metro stations, e.g., Plaza d'Armes and Santa Ana. Worth the $10 entrance. Medium sized (1-2 hr to enjoy everything). Lots of English translations.

It has a fair price and a rich collection of the Pre-Colombian era. I found it amazing and well explained and organised. You must go to see the time line of so many amazing cultures that lived in America before the European come here.

Not really. There is an elevator that will take you downstairs, but you must use the stair case to go upstairs. The upper level has a lot to see-far more than the main or lower levels. Sorry.
