I have spent almost 4 hours at this museum and found it truly fascinating. We decided to start at the lowest level where the 'Chile before Chile' exhibition is located. Here different artefacts - ceramics, textiles, jewellery etc. - of the indigenous peoples of Chile...More

Glad we spent an hour here. Could stay longer to read more captions. (In English also). Organized by geographic and cultural genres through time.

If you go to only one Museum in Santiago choose this one. It has the most amazing and extensive collection of Precolumbian artefacts. The textile room is simply breathtaking when considering the age of these handmade pieces. Many are displayed in drawers ( for preservation...More

For a country with one of the lowest expenditure on culture and science by development stage in the world, the curators have done quite an amazing job in pulling this collection together. Unfortunately, some dates are missing and some regions are entirely absent. The museum...More

Simply amazing collection of pre-Columbian art in exemplary condition. Make sure to see the textiles, they're fantastic! Plan on spending a minimum of 2 hours to view everything adequately.

Feel transported in time by walking through the halls of this museum, especially the display in the basement of true primitive and precolombian art.

This museum is worth any time you can spend—for us a few hours flew by. There are beautifully displayed artifacts from all over Latin America before any European influence, and it is amazing—the artistic beauty and technological savvy shown in pottery, metalwork, and textiles. In...More

Loved this museum, especially the jewellery and textiles. But also the ceramics. Everything is beautifully exhibited and with information also in english. The interiour and lighting in the basement create a wonderful atmosphere and enhance the wonderful artworks. The staff is also friendly and helpful.

Not really. There is an elevator that will take you downstairs, but you must use the stair case to go upstairs. The upper level has a lot to see-far more than the main or lower levels. Sorry.
