About
Founded in 1856, Cousino Macul is the only winery in Chile amongst those established in the 19th century that continues in the hands of the original founding family. The company remains 100% under family control, producing limited quantities of fine wines. The mission of Cousino Macul is to produce world-class wines that are unmistakably Chilean, carrying the distinctive character of the Maipo Valley.

    Nice visit, nice wine!
Lovely, quick visit outside of Santiago. For 18k CLP we had a tour with 4-5 tastings. Valentina was a great guide! There is no food on-site, but a cafe that’s a 5 minute walk away if you need a snack before.

    Loved it!
This was an excellent wine tour. The grounds and cellar are beautiful and it is easily reachable from the center of Santiago by Uber or even metro/bus. Janis lead the tour and was very passionate and knowledgeable about the history, wines, etc. I really appreciated her as a guide! I would definitely recommend the premium tour for a pairing with some food bites, and additional context, of their more high end wines. The first part was with the more general group but it is longer and worth it for the premium, not that much more. I was the only one in the larger group who did, so my extra time was private with the Janis, the group guide, who carefully explained the wines, pairing, and her personal observations and preferences, which added to the experience. Wine pours were generous and wines of very good quality. Loved it! Appreciated that we can keep the glass too!

Beautiful historical vineyard with great guide!
We did the premium bicycle tour and it was the best tour of a vineyard I’ve been to. Bicycling around the rows of wines at the foothills of the beautiful Andes mountains was simply stunning. The tour isn’t normally offered in English but our awesome guide Janis stepped up and did it in English for the first time ever. Thanks to her we got a private tour of the estate with its cellars and rich history, all while tasting good wines. The whole experience was topped off with a tasting of their premium wines paired with dried plums, cheese, nuts and chocolate. I can highly recommend a visit if you are in Santiago.

Wine Tour - personal & fun
This tour was wonderful! The guide (Janice) was so personable and made it so fun! We have been on a lot of winery tours, but this one had the most interesting history and little museum attached with the tour to spin a wonderful tale that we all lost track of the time! What a great way to spend an afternoon in Santiago on a layover (or just to hang out)!! Cheers! Everything was wonderful!

    Amazing experience
Our tour guide Janis made our tour and time at the winery an amazing experience! I still can’t believe all the history we learned about the family and the making of this winery! We had a wonderful time! And the wine was wonderful, of course!!

Valentina was amazing! We accidentally misread the arrival time for the English tour but everyone was extremely accommodating and they arranged for us to have a private wine tasting instead for a very fair price of 18,000 pesos.

For the wine tasting, we were guided by Valentina who was amazing. She took her time talking us through everything and even tailoring some of the wines to our preferences. She went out of her way to also show us the cellars and tell us about some of the information we missed from the tour. Thank you so much!

We did the Premium tour on NYE, and it was fantastic! I'd definitely recommend buying the Premium Tour on Groupon - it was a fantastic deal, about half price.

We took the 418 bus from Providencia, which dropped us off just a couple blocks from the entrance to the winery. The tour itself was about 90 minutes long and took us to the vineyards, the fermentation barrels, the bottling spot, and the cellars. Along the tour were 4 wine tastings with VERY generous pours.

As we got the Premium tour, we next got what ended up being a PRIVATE wine and cheese tasting with 6 more wines. Ignacio, our guide, joined us and walked us through how to taste the wine - what to look for, tasting notes - and which cheeses to have with each wine. It felt so decadent and luxurious! We left with 2 free wine glasses, a couple bottles of wine, and an appreciation for their wine (and a day hangover, but that's another story...).

Ignacio was THE BEST! His command of English was fantastic. He was funny, charismatic, and knowledgeable (and deserves way more free wine from his boss!).

Private tour with English speaking guide - approx 2 hours. We took a taxi from the city centre to the vineyard which took around 30 minutes.

As the vineyard was not currently offering English speaking group tours (I think due to fewer tourists, COVID), we took a private tour with an amazing English speaking guide called Francisco.

All the staff were super friendly, and our guide was absolutely brilliant. The tour was really interesting, a lot of history about the family as well as (obviously) the wine itself! They were very generous with the wine tastings, and we enjoyed them all. We are going to try and hunt some of them down back in the UK!

A great experience, highly recommended - especially if you’re in Santiago but don’t have the time to go to a winery further afield.

Thanks Francisco!

We walked in without a reservation and ended up doing a tasting with Cynthia. She spoke perfect English and taught us more about wine than I had ever learned in previous tastings in the US. She also took extra time to show us around the property and let us experience extra wines, which were not originally included. I am more than impressed with her knowledge and passion, as well as the beauty of the property. A truly above and beyond tour and our best experience in Santiago by far.

Wonderful experience! We did the bike tour with Carla and it exceeded our expectations. The bike portion was very short to see the vines and a small part of the estate. Then we toured the historical part of their processing, bottling and storage while tasting 5 wines. We loved it! So interesting and beautiful with a variety of wine. Would definitely come back for a tour again!

We visited Cousino Macul winery with another couple and chose the tour with tastings. Along the tour we received 5 tastings of the wonderful Cousino Macul wines. Our tour guide was Francisco. He was fantastic. His knowledge of wine was extensive. He blended that knowledge with the history of Cousino Macul and of wine making in Chile to weave an intriguing story that held our attention throughout the tour. The 90-minute tour flew by and was intensely interesting from start to finish. Cousino Macul winery is a beautiful property with impressive buildings dating back over 130 years. The selection of wines and the quality are excellent. Highly recommended.

I had a wonderful time despite speaking very little Spanish I was still able to enjoy the tour. Anaro Gatica was my tour guide, he paused the tour in Spanish to insure that I was included in the discussion by keeping me up to speed in English. The tour was great and the wine is even better. I bought a few bottles and an opener.
