An absolutely incredible Farmers type vegetable market. They also have Meat and Fish it's really a pretty authentic experience. I paid about dollar a pound for cherries and strawberries and had a thoroughly enjoyable time looking at everything else

La vega is one of the main markets in Santiago. Here you can find a great variety of fruits and vegetables and you can also have lunch for a very cheap price. You can walk around the stands and check the best offers from the "caseros" or just enjoy the friendly fair. This place is part of the local culture... More

This is what farmers markets were like before they were called farmers markets, and we bought our produce in supermarkets; and is a great place to get fresh fruits and vegetables and everything looked great.

La Vega is the main fruit market in Santiago! Worth passing by to check on local living and culture. A lot of different kind, exotic fruits available on a small price. I suggest buying some for a nice snack after the tour and also look for those places where you can try some fresh made juice + soipapillas (hope to... More

La Vega is a must in Santiago: a great, noisy, colorful open market with all sorts of delicious fresh produce from all over the contry and beyond (and Chile is world famous for its fruits and wines) Despite its seedy appearance and the prevalen stink of decomposing vegetables, its a safe and clean place. Prices are right, vendors are corteous... More

This was a great place to see all the fabulous quality fruits and vegetables that this awesome country of Chile produces. The fruit smelled so great, the vegetables were large a fresh, and we even stopped at an empanada place in the market and had what I think is the best empanada in South America.

Large covered market area selling fruits, vegetables, dried fruit, spices, fish, meats. Cafes serving Chilean and Peruvian dishes, shwarmahs, fruit juices. Exceptional smells and colours in this organised functioning chaos. Watch out for the veg carts and bicycles in the narrow alleys. Fantastic place to just wander or buy.

La Vega Central houses over 500 fruits, vegetables, meat, and goods stores, and offers a variety of Chilean cuisine. Today, thousands of people pass daily through La Vega’s 60,000 square meters of stalls. In the 19th Century, the area was known as “La Vega del Mapocho” (Mapocho market) and the land was delimited and designated for produce consumption; the construction... More
