We were told by a tour guide to do our hiking in the morning if we were going to the top and avoid the unpaved trails and don't hike around in late afternoon or evening. Not sure if that is really necessary but we followed that advice. Our hiking was not in the morning so we just walked along the... More

We loved the Zoo! Animals can be seen from very close and they are beautiful. The zoo is also very well conserved, wooded and cute.

I hiked to the top of the hill where you can visit the Statue of the Virgin Mary, (you can also take the furnicular if you don't feel like making the trek up). After seeing the statue there is plenty more to see and explore. The park is huge and home to public pools, gardens and amazing views of the... More

Amazing views of the whole city. A 10 minute ride up the vestibule. A must do in Santiago. Try to do after rain, as this clears the city smog/fog and you will see the Andes.

In the Bella Artes neighborhood the entrance area of this urban park is has many entertainment options. There are funicular for a fee that takes you to the top of the hill, a zoo, and a public hiking trail up the hill, and food & drink stalls. We chose to hike. At the top of the hill there was a... The Santiago Zoo is not the only feature of the Parque Metropolitano. The park is set on a hill close to the center of the city. In the part of the park we visited, just a few short blocks from a metro station, there is a cable car that runs up the side of the hill, and we understand that... More

Took the funicular up--took only a few minutes. the top of the mountain/hill offered up panoramic views of the city. The hike down can be confusing. Look at the large board and then ask the locals if you need help. A quiet respite. Snacks and a restroom are available at the top.

We came late when the funicular was closed, so we decided to hike all the way up. It's actually a very nice hike, probably a bit under an hour, the trail is fairly smooth with a steady incline, so it felt like a decent workout but not too much. The views from the top are the best in Santiago. There... More

Great on a sunny day. Lazy people take the ride up for pesos 2.000 round trip. Zoo is 3.000 pesos. Both recommended MeuterMedia

Great views of the city and the Andes from the top of Cerro San Cristobal. You can walk/hike up, but we weren't dressed for hiking, and had been drinking wine with lunch, so we took the funicular -- not very expensive. At the very summit is a large statue of the Virgin (unfortunately marred by surrounding radio towers). On the... More
