Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

History museum— start with free admission.
Although I can not read Spanish, it is still clearly the history of indigenous peoples and then the Spanish.
Check your bag in a locker. Make sure you have 100 peso coin ( it’s returned when you get your bag back.
Quite small and less then half hour.

Located in the centre of Santiago, right in the Plaza de Armes. The entrance is free. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was not vevry crowded. Temporary exposition on the ground floor, upstairs there're many things like paintings about the Chilean History. Very interesting, it doesn't take long to be visited

Lovely museum that should be on your list while visiting the Plaza de Armas area of the city. There is a temporary exhibition on the ground floor and then plenty of history about Chile from colonial times through most of the dictatorship years. Restrooms located in the back right corner of the ground floor. To gain access to the tower, you need to have a guide. Expect a long wait for this if you visit during the weekend.

I visited the National History Museum during my stay in Santiago and was impressed by the variety of exhibits. The museum offers a comprehensive overview of Chile's history, from indigenous peoples to modern times. However, some areas of the museum could be more interactive to attract the interest of younger visitors. Overall, a worthwhile visit for anyone who wants to learn more about the country's history.

A lovely, child-friendly museum about everything from the Big Bang to indigenous human cultures. The best parts are the traversing the different biomes of Chile, from North to South. Little English and the app was not very helpful for navigating the museum. But being able to (mostly) read the Spanish, the free wifi, and the clean bathrooms made it an excellent visit. And it's free!

Museum on the history of the Chilean territory, from the Spanish colonization until the beginning of the military dictatorship in 1973. It has some furniture from various times and many paintings and texts about the historical periods. I missed talking about the decades of Pinochet and post-dictature. Free entry. We arrived after 14:00 and it was quite full ⁇ (try to get there earlier).

This museum is worth a visit when you’re at the Plaza de Armas. The museum contains paintings, photographs and other artifacts that tell the history of Chile from the first peoples to the present day. The beautiful museum building itself is worth visiting on its own. There is a nice little courtyard with a few benches that would be a great place to rest during a long day of site seeing. The museum is free and closed on Mondays.

Based on the low reviews, perhaps in hindsight it was good the workers were on strike, but both days we attempted to visit they were closed. Apparently strikes are commonplace in Chile for various industries.

If you are interested in the history of Chile go to Wikipedia, as here everything is in Spanish. A shame really. There are no cards in any other language.
However, it is free entry so you can go for a view from the tower, unless there is a queue - they let in only 15 people every now and then. We wasted 20 minutes and resigned.
