The center of Chile's history, this presidential palace is a beautiful building that occupies an entire city block on downtown Santiago.

Walking downtown Santiago de Chile you are obliged to stop by this building, it’s a presidential palace. It looks quite fancy, all shining in the sunlight and surrounded by the Chilean flags. It’s unfortunate there were fences around when I visited - hopefully that’s temporary...More

When we visited the changing of the guards occurred on odd calendar days at 10:00am. Apparently the days change based on which month you go so check before and plan accordingly. The ceremony lasts about 50 minutes and includes a military band plus the changing...More

Luckily we had a great guide with us otherwise we would not had given La Moneda a second glance. We were unable to get close with fences erected around and police everywhere guarding. But the history and story behind the building is interesting.

It has limited availability. plan ahead for your visit. The grounds are nice and it is above the modern art museum, which is an interesting space. If you can, catch the changing of the guards.

Go on Sunday mornings to enter everything for free. It's a great community space - both times I went there was a school awards ceremony going on in the main patio. Interesting products from Chiloe and interactive gallery on pop art to supplement the Andy...More

Really smelly and full of dog pooh everywhere. Even in gardens around the palace. Police fences everywhere. Highly do not recommend this place

Our guide took us to La Moneda around 10 AM and we saw the ceremony quite well. May depend on the time of year - we were there in December. I'm sure the tourist info office would know.
