Go to Colores de la India, Patronato 189. A new store with a better quality of things on sale than the usual places in this area. Lovely tops, trousers, dresses, shoes, handbags. Beautiful bedspreads, cushion covers, etc. Reasonable prices. Owner speaks several languages including perfect Spanish and English.

It's a lot like the down-to-earth downtowns of some cities in south america, having lots of independent stores with good prices if you do a good look-arround (and ask for bargains, of course). Nearby you have La Vega Central and Tirso de Molina markets, so there are enough reasons for you to pass and know "the other side of the... More

Good area to shop if you're looking for textiles. Also numerous street vendors selling cups of fresh fruit and Middle Eastern sweets.
