I went with a group of 6. Half went left, half right. Two of the guys with me got altitude sickness. I continued and solo climbed the cliff to the top in snow whiteout conditions. Easy climbing. Had a blast.

Catch the teleferico for $8.50 and from the top the hike should take about 2 to 3 hours. The end of the hike is an easy climb but the altitude does get to you. Try to do this as early as possible (First teleferico starts...More

We used this hike as our first acclimatization hike in Ecuador right on the second day of arrival. The hike is moderate, no snow anywhere, yet it can get cold and windy. The trail is super well marked and many people hike on it every...More

We did this in January 2017 as an acclimatization hike with AAI. The entire route is generally below the snow line but you should take proper clothing in case conditions change along the way. The route is pretty easy to follow until you get to...More

After exiting the cable car it's a straight forward 80 minutes along the clear single track ridge line, then another 30-40 minutes banking around the right of the bouldered faces (you need to scale 3 slabs of rock or so) and then you will reach...More

Make sure you have spent a few days in high altitude before you attempt this. Well worth it! We took the Teleferico to the top and started the hike from there. The middle 90% of the hike is fairly well marked. Make sure you are...More
