A unique attraction The site features three attractions devoted to the work of Oswaldo Guayasamin regarded as Ecuador’s most renowned contemporary artist. There is the Capilla del Hombres which is a secular ‘chapel’ devoted not to religion but to humanity itself and features many of his later works, an archaeological outdoor area and finally the painters own house where he... Do not miss it, amazing collection of Guayasamin's works, plus you have his former house and workshop in the same complex. Nice guides, for the same price of the entrance fee.

Take the time to go on the guided tour of the museum and house. You will need a good few hours - especially if you want to browse in the excellent gift shop! Be sure to take a taxi or bus there since it is all uphill.

Very interesting museum whether you appreciate or not Guayasamin as a painter. Small selection of his works which are powerful and deeply moving, as they depict the suffering of the poor and the downtrodden in many dictatorial regimes. Make sure you go with the guide (free) so as to understand what the paintings refer to. The artist´s house is located... More

This is a great way to feel like you're getting away from the business and noise of Quito even though it's just a 10 minute cab ride. The artwork in the Capilla is truly moving and the house tour is interesting and historical. Tours are available in English and Spanish.

Even if you and your family are not museum lovers, this place is really worth visiting during your stay in Quito. During its 2 - 3 hours guided tour, you'll learn from the life of Ecuador's greatest painter (Oswaldo Guayasamín), you'll enjoy his pre-hispanic and colonial art collection and experience a life-time experience at the "Capilla del Hombre". Really not... More

We were pleasantly surprised by this museum. Normally, we are not really into museums, as we prefer outdoor activities. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and gained a much better understanding of the art through the excellent tour. Check this place out!

The capilla del hombre ticket includes a visit to Guayasamin's house. It is very impressive to see some of Guayasamin's collection and his way of living.

My wife and I both love art and this museum was worth seeing and being exposed to another world class artist like Picasso, Van Gogh etc. I'd go back it was so cool.

Very interesting and moving tribute the suffering of massively underprivileged and abused populations of Latin America. Provokes reflection. Make sure you take the tour (in English or Spanish) because I do not think you would get as much out of it if you just did your own walk-through. It was $8 for the ticket which gives you access to the... More
