We were awed by this gold leafed interior which took years to build since the Jesuits kept getting expelled from Quito. It is impossible to describe the detail it offered. Can't be missed if you are in Ecuador. Since you can't take pics inside, be sure to buy postcards in the church store - they weren't anywhere else that we... More

Nothing compares to this church, the gold-plated walls highlight beautiful pictures and other art pieces of the "Escuela Quiteña". Worth every second spent watching sharply everyone of its corners.

We got bad information from our hotel so it took more than one trip to the old town to see this but it is worth the trips for sure. A young church member gave us enough information to really understand what we were seeing. The gold is magnificent and the history is great to learn.

This is a great architectural designed building and inside it will blow you away! The temples, the walls, the paintings, everything has been so perfectly designed and created that you would wonder nowadays who could possible do this kind of work? It will take you back on time, and let you enjoy this one of the many jewels they have... More

The ecclesiastical artwork in the interior of this church are all the rave! I've visited many churches and cathedrals and the interior artwork found here really blew me away and made me glad I came. Photographs are usually prohibited inside, but the lady attendant on the day I visited made an exception for me (I can't tell you why since... More

We have been to a lot of churches around the world, so many we can't even get our children interested in them anymore! However, this one is a must see. We have never seen more gold in a church! The cost is around $5 a person, making it the costliest church in Quito....but well worth the price.

If you only have time to visit one church in Quito, make it La Iglesia de La Compania de Jesus. Photos truly cannot do justice to the magnificent gilt styling of this very unique church. A guided tour will enable you to appreciate all aspects of the architectural styles represented within and will also lend insight on both church and... More

This is an amazing church, easily one of the most impressive I've seen. There is gold everywhere! A lot of interesting history too, I recommend reading up on it before you go or having a guided tour. Make sure to use the mirror to look at the sun god at the top of the dome. Sadly no pictures were allowed.
