Fascinating look at the artist's life and works

This is one of Quito's "stately homes" with a view of Quito that explains why Guayasamin wanted to live here. The modern gallery of his works provides insight into his passion to tell the stories of misery among the indigenous people that need to be told. Go to the Museo Casa la Sucre first, so you can better appreciate the... More

The Guayasamin Museum is a truly powerful and moving site. It's actually two museums in one, with his personal collection from various artists preserved in his home just a short walk from the museum that beautifully displays Guayasamin's own masterpieces. Don't skip the tours or videos, you need to understand the history to appreciate everything you'll see. It is heartbreaking,... More

When you want to start near Mariscal Fodge go up for 6 de diciembre. Take a bus which is named "Guadalajara". You need to change bus lines at aloy Alfaro (it's the first station which is going very up hill). Then you need to take a company which is named Vencedores till the last station which is in front of... More

This is really a tour of the artists home with some time in his gallery. We are not huge fans of this type of modern art so it was not appealing to us at all. Spending time in the bedroom of anyone is kind of odd. The views from outside the house down to the town were the best part... More

The architecture and open spaces make the artwork even more dramatic. As an artist, Guayasamin painted human suffering in its many forms. His artwork has provoking imagery of hands, teeth, and faces. We spent a solid two hours here and it was the highlight of our trip to Quito. Anyone who appreciates museums at all will be stunned by the... More

This famous artist now has his own museum and you can go see his paintings in his house. Definitely something that will grab your attention even if you are not a "museum fan"

This was the best thing we did in Quito. I didn't want to go as I thought it would be depressing. Instead it was moving. The artwork shows the hardships so many people in South America have endured. Our guide was amazing. It takes 1-2 hours to go through.

A great walk and view from there. Such a beautiful places and so interesting to see where this famous ecuadorian painter used to live. A great insight into the intimity of the painter. Huge paintings and impressive site. Greatly recommend it!
