Great collection of religious art pertaining to the Franciscan Order, much of it from the 17th and 18th centuries. Via the museum you can gain access to the high choir of San Francisco church: beautiful sculpture.

Our walking tour of Quito allowed us to explore many of the churches in the area. It was surprising that we were allowed to visit while mass was being said!

Informative of Saint Francis, and the establishment of this San Francisco area. Interesting artifacts in museum. Not very big, takes about 1/2 hours. If fortunate you might hear the choir practicing, or the bellsame ringing. Beautiful experience.

We visited both the museum, which includes the cloister, and the church. We had an escort (seemed to be required) through our visit (not a guide--he did not speak much English). I'm not sure if you can visit the Cathedral without going through the museum--there...More

Went to the museum by chance, and it was totally worth it. It holds a lot of paintings and sculptures from the colonial times, which are exceptionally well conserved. We did a tour of about an hour and a half, you get to go into...More
